In The Ruff is the highly anticipated debut album from new DC hip hop group The Diamond District , created by state veterans Oddisee , X.O. (yes, the same man from studio 43. he's working overtime.) & YU . it's the answer for any lover of hip hop who asks the question - "Where did that grimy east coast sound go?" the group was founded by rapper/ producer oddisee (right), who has a long list of production & collaboration credits with the likes of Freeway, [...]

Given the current economic situation coupled with the facts that you're not going to top T-Pain's "Big Ass Chain" or the most ridiculous of rapper chains, why opt for jewelry? Go another route to let them know your regal status (and/or comedic sensibilities) with this King Jaffe shirt by Hoodman Clothing . And the song that shall be your soundtrack to wearing said shirt? From their In The Ruff EP, cue up Diamond District's "The Shining," recommended to be played at volume 10 while your wiz throws [...]
The hip hop trio Diamond District aren't afraid to reveal D.C.'s dark underbelly; and even though they paint life there as a struggle, it's obvious the District is a part of them, for better or for worse. The production on their debut LP has a smooth sound only the East Coast can bring to the table, and for you, it's free . Yeah, just for you. A track and a link where you can grab their first album: MP3: Diamond District- "Who I Be" [...]

Sorry for the delay folks, I've been very busy with school trying to finish strong. While I was away some dope music dropped and I feel as though you NEED to hear it. First up to bat is the DC supergroup Diamond District. Composed of three DC rappers X.O yU and Oddisee. Dope project all around to the point I didn't even care that it was a clean version. There is no two ways around it, this album is great. I have been listening to Diamond District the most recently out of any other album/mixtape and I don't have to skip any tracks. After posting the first two singles by the DMV trio, "I Mean Business" and "Who I Be" , and letting the lyrics of Oddisee, X.O. and Y.U. sink in I was fiending for more and knew this album had the potential to be great. I was trying to describe the album to a friend as "mid-nineties New York rap but modern day in the DMV" [...]
A fantastic hip hop debut from a brand new trio out of D.C.: The Diamond District. Even though the group is new, this ain't their first rodeo. The trio's founder, Oddisee, has production credits that span from Talib Kweli to Jazzy Jeff. It's a thick East Coast sound, too, loaded with crackling vinyl samples and heavy horn sections. The Diamond Districts debut LP is In the Ruff , and it's currently free. Yes, free. No money. It's up for download on their website, but here's a taste to get you curious: [...]

"In the Ruff" is a FREE album made by Oddisee and his boys XO and YU reppin the DMV. This was copped it last night but I didn't get to check it out before I took it down. I put this on the iPod before I stepped out this morning and was greeted by some boom baptastic songs. I'm still listening to it now so I thought I'd share. Hit the break for the links and the track list. 00 Intro 01 Streets Wont Let [...]

diamond-district-i-mean-busine ss Today must be your lucky day because instead of one banger in this post you are getting two, no April Fool's either. I had the "Who I Be" song all lined up and ready to be posted right when it dropped but it got lost in the sauce and it is too good not to throw up on B&B. Three DMV artists make up the group, X.O., Oddisee and YU and all three bring it on both tracks. Their debut album, In The Ruff , will be available for download for free on April [...]

Be on the look out for these dudes. Composed of oddisee, X.O., and yU, this DMV conglomerate got some heat. I can't front since I've been doing this blogging thing the DMV has come a long way from being damn near not represented at all to making a name for themselves. Tabi and his dope videos, Wale getting love all over and ahhh I don't know what else. What up Judah! Let me shut up before I'm forced to wear a pair of ACG's Download | Diamond District- I Mean Business

Diamond District " I Mean Business ": Diamond District = Oddisee , X.O. & YU . I slept on posting the first leak from their forthcoming album, In The Ruff , when it dropped last week , and I'm kicking myself for it. This shit is dope - makes you thing, but also keeps your head noddin'. Hit up their website for a mini documentary on this project, then check back on April 14th to grab this album when it drops. Bonus Beats Diamond [...]

that was supposed to be the last of the night, but someone affiliated with this project just fired this through. thanks. this is surely what hiphop should be right now in the '09. It seem's that everything oddisee is involved in right now = dopeness . And both X.O. & YU got spit. put together and the release is only going to be the sum of all parts and some more. They call themselves Diamond District . And if you want the 1st single which they also shot [...]

i saw this a couple weeks ago, but work prevented me from throwing this your way sooner. the diamond district is a hip hop group comprised of oddisee, X.O., and yU. all DMV representers brought together through music. oddisee is the person who decided to form this trio, from what i understand. he produces and raps, and does both incredibly. i first heard about him through the now-defunct scratch magazine . i feel like his whole approach to music is so different to everyone else in the area. he's been a head figure [...]
