Ghost with a boner - Diarrhea Planet If you didn't already know, a band exists called Diarrhea Planet and they have a song called Ghost With A Boner . It's a sensation. Maybe you knew but for some reason through band name and song title you prejudged it not worth your time. Don't. It's incredible.

Diarrhea Planet is a grungy, sweaty, dirty punk-rock band, tailor made to play in college bars and grandma's basement. With a fast and loose sound that can only inspire mosh pits, the group's "Raft Nasty" is sure to fire up the sleeping rage machine inside. Diarrhea Planet's latest album, Loose Jewels, is out now via [...]

Diarrhea Planet - Warm Ridin' [Right click [...]

mp3: Diarrhea Planet - "Raft Nasty" Exhilaration is on with the new Diarrhea Planet track, "Raft Nasty." There are so many members in this band, but none of us care, it's alright, b/c we love harmonious gang vocals. Feel all joyous inside. Feel part of the team. Feel more slicing punk, yes. Read the Deckfight review of Diarrhea Planet's Loose Jewels .

First of all, Nashville, TN's Diarrhea Planet have one of the best names I've ever heard. Does it help that they rule as well? It sure does. What can go wrong when you have four screaming guitars, wailing out songs that barely last over two minutes (there's one track over 3 minutes on their LP) and basically shred asses. It's a miracle that the guitars work together in absolute harmony, riffing, slaying, and finger-picking in mixing sublime melodies and tempos to perfection. Raft Nasty off their Infinity Cat [...]

Review by Chris Vola I'd never heard of Nashville's Diarrhea Planet until about a month ago during a bleary 3am YouTube session. The song was "Ghost With A Boner," one of the young group's earliest recordings, and the combination of band name and song title meant I had to click the link. I was instantly floored by the scratching and heavy, yet insanely catchy riffs, the throaty, layered vocal delivery and the overall sense of lusty pleasure in simple bombast. Never have I felt more compelled to sing along to a ditty about a paranormal [...]

Another bonanza month of top tunes, all rounded up for you in one perfect download mix. Here are the September highlights together, as always, with a couple of top-notch new tracks too. Download The Migrant – The Hurricane mp3 (from Amerika) Distinguished by a slow blues refrain, handclaps and a mournful vocal, it is one of those tunes that sounds like it has been around forever. Download Diarrhea Planet – Warm Ridin' mp3 (from Loose Jewels) A magnificent cacophony of guitars, pounding bass, thundering drums and begs for [...]
MP3 Some thick guitars and catchy group vocals coming through on this new Diarrhea Planet track, "Warm Ridin'." The band has a new LP out via Infinity Cat titled Loose Jewels. Is it just me, or is it nearly impossible not to relate anything having to do with this band-song titles, lyrics, album titles-to diarrhea? Hopefully, I'll get passed it soon.

What is in a name? A question both for the ages and perhaps for Infinity Cat Recording's latest label offering Diarrhea Planet . It's hard when a band names themselves after a word I try my best to avoid uttering at all costs. Let's face it: no one wants to hear it, conversationally or otherwise. But once you check out this band and swoon over their infectious, punky garage rock, much like you did twenty-some years ago with the Butthole Surfers, you think more about their stellar sound than the [...]

What can you get out of four guitarists? Just one listen to Diarrhea Planet and you'll see that it's a pretty heavy sound, if not one rooted in a bit of pop. With the vocals, I want to throw them in as a more rocking Against Me , but there's a lot less angst. This Nashville outfit is busy prepping their debut Loose Jewels on Infinity Cat Records , which you can find in stores on September 20th (next week!). It's possibly [...]
If you were on Twitter late last night (and you follow our account ), you might have noticed that our fearless leader Dave Park was gushing about this relatively new act, Diarrhea Planet. As he said, "[J]ust started listening and loving this band. They're called @DiarrheaPlanet. No joke. Loving them." And yeah, while their band name might lead you to think they're messing around, you'll realize they're not once you hear their latest single, "Warm Ridin'." It's a drunken brawler of a punk tune that barely makes its way to the two-minute mark. These Nashville shit-kickers have [...]

mp3: Diarrhea Planet - "Warm Ridin" Standing across the street from The End in Nashville and the words "Diarrhea Planet" are up on their classic signboard. This random girl: "does that say Diarrhea? That says Diarrhea." It did say that. And Diarrhea Planet still exists. They're in Nashville, but we're all living in the Diarrhea. This track is "Warm Ridin" and it has that Cloud Nothings indie punk vibe, but they're nestled real close with their Jeff the Bro'hood Infinity Cat labelmates and fellow Nashville-rs Turbo Fruits. Solid punk rock that [...]

Not sure what to make of the name, but Diarrhea Planet are faves of the brilliant Jeff The Brotherhood and have signed to their Infinity Cat label. Debut album Loose Jewels is released on the 20th September and taster track Warm Ridin' is a magnificent cacophony of guitars, pounding bass, thundering drums and begs for an open road, a booming car stereo and a warm night. The third in a four part series recapping some of the best music to come out of Nashville during the first half of 2011.
ALOHA! by RAD FRNDS Diarrhea Planet don't suck nearly as much as their name does. Their debut EP ALOHA! was released as a 73 earlier this year on Evil Weevil Records , and is filled with joyful, life-affirming power pop with a lo-fi edge. Most of its songs don't even approach two minutes, nor do they need to. Short and sweet is the formula here, but not too sweet-as the name Diarrhea Planet may suggest, these guys don't mind getting a little dirty. With sloppy guitar work and rousing, shouted vocals, there is a [...]
Silly name, amazing results. Diarrhea Planet on Twitter .
New music from Nashville's Diarrhea Planet from the cheeky punk group's forthcoming Loose Jewels release.

One thing is for sure about Nashville: it certainly knows how to make good on the title " Music City ". Not only is it the hometown of honky-tonk bars, delicious barbeque, and mucho Country musicians playing hole-in-the-wall bars at all hours of the day, but the independent/alternative/baseme nt rock music scene is absolutely exploding, making Nashville the city with the highest concentration of the music industry in the U.S. That's right. More than THREE TIMES L.A. So if your inner desire of becoming that brooding bassist in a basement band decides to become a reality, you might find yourself amongst [...]
