While the impending release of a Dido album would not really be huge news for most (my girlfriend included), one thing makes this piece newsworthy. Before I get to that, a big thanks to Chris for keeping things alive while I was on holidays. What a trip! Anyhow, this new Dido album, which does not have a title yet, is being produced by the one and only Jon Brion. Everything he does is wonderful. Pity he wouldn't make a follow-up to Meaningless though! The album is due out November 4th, and features [...]

Sıradaki haberimizse sonbaharda sahici albümler çıkar teorime itirazı olanlara gelsin madem. Tam adını yazmaya kalksam 3 satırı heba edeceğim İngiliz şarkıcı Dido , Kasım ayının başında yeni albümü Safe Trip Home ile 4 yıllık suskunluğa son veriyor. Albümün ilk single'ı Don't Believe In Love ise Eylül'de yayınlanacakmış. Dido'nun varolan 2 albümünde Thank You, Life For Rent, White Flag gibi piyasa -ama güzel- şarkıları haricinde trip-hop 'a dahil edebileceğimiz çok sağlam şarkılar da var. Bristol çıkışlı da değil halbuki ama Beth Gibbons 'ı biraz andırıyor bence, uzaktan. [...]

We're off for our Summer Vacation...and not a moment too soon! I really feel like I need a rest...this is the first break I've had since last year's vacation...2 weeks off in a year. (Note to self: need to sort that!) Still, as my Wife reminds me....she works 52 weeks a year, 365 days, 24/7....Now I know why I didn't put in for that job!!! This will probably be the last holiday we take as a family. The kids are growing up and my daughter [...]

A long weekend of solo parenting while my wife headed off to Sonoma County for a long-overdue vacation has left me too exhausted for deep thought. Happily, thanks to reader emails, new releases and new discoveries, I've got plenty of material for yet another installment of our popular (Re)Covered series, wherein we recover songs that dropped through the cracks too late to make it into the posts where they belonged. A few weeks back, when my laptop went kablooie, Jamie -- host of the ever-miraculous coverblog Fong Songs [...]

As a rule, I hate Christmas music. You can't work in retail for 4 years and not hate it. But there are some songs that 1) I either never listened to for hours on end day after day, or 2) that managed to survive the love. A friend of mine on another message board gave me a CD of Christmas songs last year, and almost all of them were ones that fell into one of my two exception categories above. Merry Christmas - The Ramones. [...]

While getting last week's Homonym ready, while tracking down a picture of The Duchess in her wedding dress, I remembered our wedding song: Zeppelin's "Thank You". I realized there are oodles of different songs with this title. Hence this week's Homonym. Led Zeppelin Kris Kristofferson Dido Charlotte Kendrick (or dos?) Since I started reading "Love Is A Mix Tape," I've been revisiting some of my old mixes. This was the first one I made for The Duchess' (new) car (at the time), a Mini Cooper. I like it for the film dialog and hodgepodge of tunes. 1. Tomoyasu Hotei ~ Battle Without Honor or Humanity 2. The Who ~ Baba O'Riley 3. Jay ~ "Ball Lickers" (from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) 4. Beastie Boys ~ Root [...]

It's Christmas Day! Jollywoohoo! So yes, I finally got it done. Consider that an accomplishment. Here I proudly present: Zeon's Mixtape Vol. 3! I save the best for last, so this collection of songs consist of my favorite, traditional and original, from most of my favorite artists & bands of different types of music, all served for one purpose: making you feel festive & all warm up inside, and appreciating the spirit at this time of the year. You can tell I've put quite much effort into making this, so I hope you will enjoy the mix as [...]

I Hype Machined Dido and found an absence of tracks by her. So, not only is she a Guilty Pleasure, she also falls into the Greatest Songs Never Heard theme of this blog. Of course, years ago, all you heard was Dido. I included her biggest hit, a remix and a hidden track of her sophomore album. Thank You Here With Me (Remix) [...]
