South African rave-rap terrorists Die Antwoord, who became global viral sensations last year and who somehow turned that into an Interscope contract, have parted ways with their major label, claiming that Interscope was doing its best to turn them into something more pop-friendly. Instead, they're planning to self-release the new album TEN$ION on their own label Zef Recordz. And with that announcement, they've given us a new video called "Fok Julle Naaiers," a title that translates to "Fuck You All." The black-and-white clip doesn't have the same eyeball-exploding weirdness that the group's earlier videos brought, but not a [...]

Since first hitting the scene, South African rap ensemble Die Antwoord have faced the wrath of a public unsure whether to tout them as genuine cultural mavericks or just another blogosphere joke. But proving that ninjas have integrity, the band announced on their official site (via BoingBoing ) that they'd left Interscope Records after the industry giant began to exert more creative control. "So anyway... Interscope offered us a bunch of money again to release our new album TEN$ION . But this time, they also tried to get involved with our music, [...]
Normally I wouldn't blog about Die Antwoord 's new video but that DJ Hi-Tek feature for " Fok Julle Naaiers " is killing it and worth a shout! Single is taken from TEN$ION and will be released on their own new label Zef Records. via Pitchfork Die Antwoord - Facebook Die Antwoord - Homepage

It's a full-on revolution down at Occupy Wall Street right now; the contingent seems to be growing every day, with no sign that it will be relenting any time soon. People are pissed and enacting their democratic right, and there's a lot to be said about that. The movement's growing size has stoked a media phenomenon; now that a lot of people are reacting negatively to MTV's announcement of a True Life: I'm Occupying Wall Street special that airs 11/5 at 6PM EST, the movement seems to have hit fever pitch. [...]

O.G. boingboing -core South African rap duo Die Antwoord - 20102s "hahahaha jk" archetypes, for those with short 'net memories - are coming back with a new release, proving at the very least they are serious enough of a rap & rave outfit to proffer a new release. SPIN recaps a listening session of Ninja and Yo-Landi's forthcoming full-length, Tensions , pegging it "freakier" and "more absurd" and "smart" and "culturally relevant." Earlier this year, the band lost its DJ , Leon Botha, at the age of 26. The album title begins to speak for [...]

Formerly known as The Phat Conductor, ill.Gates is a self described "bass music artist" from Toronto, Canada. Yesterday, he took some time out of his day at Bassnectar studios to sit down with me and answer a few questions, talk about music, and address a question that we've all been wondering: "Is ill.Gates the father of California Cornbread's child?" ( Answer: No. It looks like I'll be on Maury with a full DNA test panel for this dilemma. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: DJ Vadim ft. La Methode [...]
One of the true greats passed away this month: Clarence Clemons, a legend to every Springsteen fan. There are many things which made the E Street Band's sound so unique, but the key ingredients, in my view, were Roy Bittan's keyboards and Clemons' sax. It is on Clemons' shoulder on which Springseen leans on the Born To Run cover, literally and symbolically (and imagine the title track without that orgasmic saxophone build-up). The featured E Street Band song, here in the live version from the 1975 Hammersmith Odeon concert, tells the story of how the E Street Band came together. [...]

I'd be lying if I said I didn't relish at the fact that Lebron has been non-existent for the NBA Finals. It's funny because on ESPN yesterday, they kept on talking about his tweet at 1AM stating, "Now or Never," as a way to motivate himself into playing better. Unfortunately, the tweet had the adverse effect. James scored 19 points, and further reinforces that the Heat belongs to D Wade; Bosch and James are just along for the ride. The fact that Cuban hasn't reared his face at all this year is something that [...]

http://pitchfork.com/news/4275 3-rip-die-antwoord-collaborato r-leon-botha Do u remember Leon Botha? I honestly didn't really. He was the guy in Die Antwoord who stood around in their music videos, and it was scary because he had progeria. I feel bad for him because Die Antwoord did everything they could to 'look weird' and 'using' a guy with progeria was one of their tactics [via 'freak show' vibes]. Feel bad for ppl with progeria. Watched some TLC documentary abt them one time. They don't ever really live a very long [...]

MOKB has hosted the ATL's 19-year-old spitfire Dominique Young Unique on two different occasions , and both times she brought the raw energy and enthusiasm you see in her new " Follow The Leader " video. DYU's star continues to rise as she has recently opened for handful of big names, N.E.R.D., Big Boi, Gucci Mane, Die Antwoord and Sleigh Bells. " Follow The Leader " was shot and edited by Johannes Schaff, and contains a chorus that will stick with you for weeks. Check out Dominique's new [...]
Die Antwoord is the weirdest band of ALL TIME. Seriously. Slayer, Fever Ray ain't got nuttin on them. This video above is one of their more conservative ones. The band's name is Afrikaans for "The Answer" and they're described as a "rap-rave" group from Cape Town consisting of three members: Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er (who was almost cast as the lead in the new "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" film ) and DJ Hi-Tek. The band self-identifies as a mélange of several diverse cultures. Die Antwoord - "Rich Bitch" — [...]
