Following up their last Hot New Track certified single.

We've all had those nights. The ones where you happen upon a kindred spirit at the bar or house party or cousin's bar mitzvah and sneak away, talking until the sun rises, sharing your deepest thoughts and coming to profound realizations about yourself and your life with a person you barely knew half a day before. They seem beautiful and powerful when they occur, and may even culminate with a kiss or more, but as the dew descends and the twinkles subside, what lingers most is the sour film of un-brushed teeth and the ornery throb of your hungover brain. In the best cases, [...]

NYC rockers The Dig have released the second single off their sophomore LP, Midnight Flowers , due out May 29th via Buffalo Jump Records. "I Already Forgot Everything You Said" begins simply enough with a gentle stream of dreamy guitars, haunting harmonies, and sparse, hypnotic drumming. The track maintains its composure for most of its five-minute existence, with the exception of an emotional refrain of wailing guitars towards the end. Stream and/or download it below. If you haven't already, make sure to check out the album's [...]

Brooklyn rockers The Dig have given up a sneak peak of their upcoming sophomore album, Midnight Flowers , in the form of the deep and brooding "Red Rose In The Cold Winter Ground". There's piles of echo on top of the guitar and vocals at the start of the track, creating a cavernous, isolated feeling. A metronome-steady rimshot keeps a tick-tock pace as seconds slide steadily by, emphasizing the loneliness as the lyrics continue on about wandering in barren desolation. A second guitar chimes in, a splash of color against the grey, a [...]
An erratic drumbeat and a strident bass line elevate The Dig's new track "Red Rose in the Cold Winter Ground."

Digging for records is a dying art. What, with the ease of access to records through sites like Discogs and with physical record stores disappearing on a daily basis, many young vinyl lovers never get to experience the joy of getting their hands dirty and finding that forgotten gem. However, those in the know still have their spots they frequent, and are regularly rewarded for their dedication. Just the other day I was having a dig through one of the shops I've visited since I started taking record buying seriously when I came across this... Now I actually bought [...]
Out of Brooklyn, The Dig brought straight up rock 'n roll to the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
Your wonderful Wednesday: ► It's a night of crackling modern power-pop at the El Rey Theatre — Ben Kweller headlines behind his new album "Go Fly a Kite," supported by Kentucky's Sleeper Agent , fresh out of Coachella and getting some ink from the Times , and NYC's the Dig , whose sophomore album "Midnight Flowers" is on the way in late May. That's Sleeper Agent's video for "Get Burned," above. ► Talk about your dry spells: Vintage psychedelic rockers Strawberry Alarm Clock play the Satellite behind their first [...]

It's a holiday celebrated by few, but those few treat it like Christmas morning. In fact, some might consider it better than Christmas morning: Record Store Day. Since its inception in 2007, countless vinyl enthusiasts have woken up - on Saturday morning, no less - to patrol the streets in their pajamas, eventually taking up real estate outside their favorite record store, all in the hopes that they'll snag priceless soon-to-be artifacts that, more or less, give them bragging rights. It's relentless, it's addicting, but it's pastime. Consequence of Sound looks forward to [...]

I took the day off yesterday to work on wedding plans, hence the lack of updates on the site. Today, is a different story. Let's start with a new song from New York band The Dig . They're set to release their new album Midnight Flowers on May 29 th via Buffalo Jump Records and "Red Rose in the Cold Winter Ground" is the first single. On first listens, it reminds me of a less electronic Miike Snow, in a very good way. The band will [...]

Hailing from the bright lights of New York City, The Dig unleashed their debut album, Electric Toys , in 2010 to buzzing praise. On May 29th, the band returns for more of their thoughtfully-paced rock and roll with their followup up, Midnight Flowers , from Buffalo Jump Records. Our first taste of the new LP comes in the form of "Red Rose in the Cold Winter Ground". Although seemingly somber on the surface, the track's jarring bassline and random, punctuating drums make for a dynamic, albeit reserved moment of great rock and roll transcendence. [...]
