the man himself- thecobrasnake.com the last month has seen the return of my dislike for electronic dance music, and commercial mnstrm music in general, my only light at the end of the tunnel seems to be the full release of the new Oizo album no one is doing anything new/original/inventive/groundb reaking, its mostly shit, and we're all putting up with it presets win ARIA awards, some bogan chick from melbourne wins 6 [...]

Well today I just got to listen to DJ Babu's Duck Season Vol. 3 (In stores October 28th) and I know peeps are waiting to hear how it sounds. I won't speak on "Dearly Departed", "Ahead of My Time" or "Fanmail" since I think most of ya'll heard these tracks before. They are up on Babu's myspace site for those who haven't heard them yet. I will only say these three are among the better tracks off the Duck Season [...]

Kind of disappointed that Premier has gotten no votes for best producer in my poll. I mean Dangermouse is sick, but really? Don't even know what to say. Maybe people just don't know about Primo. This post is dedicated to DJ Premier, one of the best ever. Check the production. Fresh track from Dilated's Evidence, it's off his new EP The Layover . Set to drop Nov. 25th!

Evidence, from Dilated Peoples, is dropping an EP next month. Here's the title track off it, and one from the mixtape. Evidence - The Layover Evidence - Bigger Dreams

Evidence is one of the most laid back, down to earth mutherfucks in all of hip hop. Throughout the years of working @ UGHH and running into him at a multitude of different events, he was always real quick to stop what he was doing and run over and say "whattup". When I first started working for UGHH, Dilated was still coming up through the ranks of underground rap groups. They were lopped into the same vein as Jurassic 5, even though the two groups couldn't have been further from each other musically. It's definitely great to see Evidence [...]

I have been a fan of charlie fanclub since I got my hands on a tight remix of surkin's radiofireworks by him. Here is another fresh remix by him. Music Sounds Better With You (charlie fanclub remix) - Stardust On a lighter note, "it ain't where you put your words, it's where you don't". I first stumbled across Dilated Peoples as a beady-eyed 13 yr [...]
If your hip-hop tank is on empty like mine is, make a few trips to Emo's next week to find the cure. On Monday night the "Fresh Rhymes and Videotape" tour comes to town with a roster that includes underground legends Dilated Peoples, one of hip hop's leading producers The Alchemist, RJD2 collaborator Aceyalone, and Kanye West's soulful protege 88-Keys. They kicked off the tour at Neumo's in Seattle earlier this week, apparently in fine style : "Dilated Peoples' infectious fusion of lyrical acrobatics and buoyant beats has always struck me as a dish best served piping [...]

You guessed it friends, today is yer man Naedoo's birthday. How old am I? Well if you must know, today is my 33rd birthday. I know, I know, compared to many of our loyal readers I might as well be 83, but in the big picture 33 isn't that old. Consider this, Jay-Z's birthday is also today, but he was born in 1969! That would make jigga 38 today, that's to years from 40, which is really old. Sure, he's a billionaire and is essentially married to Beyonce, but man, 38. Pass the champagne gramps. Anyway, the Ack [...]
Hello, friends. It was a great week and we're so glad we made it to a few shows, some of which were forever captured in our hearts. There's a lot to do this weekend so pace yourself. First, you might notice that we aren't helping The Monolators with their awesome monthly First Fridays tonight. Truth is, they were sick of us and told us to get a life. After wiping away the tears, we set up our

Katie. I just drove 18 hours yesterday. From Texas all the way through Oklahoma City and back to Chicago. Long road with lots of Christians everywhere. But New Young Pony Club is in town tonite over at Subterranean . Should be a good time. I'm surprised that they are playing at such a low key venue- def. not a complaint at all, every show I've seen over there has been awesome. Who knows. I posted the Mehdi remix a bit ago, so that's why it's missing. New Young [...]

Another year, another opening day, as all across America baseball fans throng to their stadium of choice, flush with optimism, joy, and hope. All of them certain that this year will be "the year." The year when that "local sports team" finally goes all the way, winning the World Series and restoring a sense of pride, dignity and respect to town. Of course, such concepts are foreign to me. Why? Because like Job (no George Oscar Bluth), I'm destined to suffer the tragic life of a Cincinnati Reds fan, scarred by years of being mathematically eliminated by the third week [...]

After writing about the Cunninlynguists CD the other day I've had this nagging feeling I should mention a couple other Cd's that were awesome and completely ignored. So, while these are not better than A Piece of Strange, if I was making a top 5 I'd have a hard time listing which was number 2....but, I would eventually settle on Jurassic 5 - Feedback so I'll start there. Jurassic 5 - Feedback After a 4 year silence J5 dropped Feedback on [...]
