By all accounts, the Deftones' two consecutive headline performances at New York City's Best Buy Theater on May 13th and 14th were absolutely fucking awesome. For many, it was a chance to see a rare headline show by a band who doesn't often makes it out to this coast. For my friend Eduardo, the May [...]

I really hate the term "supergroup." 99% of the time, it's just a group...nothing super about it. This group however, falls into that super 1%. Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds revealed to Noisecreep that he is teaming up with Dillinger Escape Plan shredder Ben Weinman, former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric ...
So how's this for a new supergroup? Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, and and former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery are apparently joining forces to create a new project. And while I'm always a little bit suspicious of mega-all-star-team-ups like this - for every [...]

A massive new group is in the making...that is, if they can actually find the time to get together. Brent Hinds of Mastodon spoke to Noisecreep and said that he, ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery, former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman are trying to put together an album. But since they all live in different parts of the U.S., getting that album off the ground has been a wee bit slow. "We tried to get together and do an album, but there's been no [...]

Devin Townsend has so much explaining to do. As a tireless songwriter and producer, he's set to release two albums on June 21, Ghost and Deconstruction, to complete the Devin Townsend Project cycle that he started with 20092s Ki and Addicted. That's four full-length records, 43 songs, and 260 minutes of music unleashed over about two [...]

Tweet Charades is not a nice game. It produces pain, suffering and marriage problems. Children cry, animals get kicked, furniture gets destroyed and dignity slowly backs out of the room. So next time someone suggest a game of charades make for the exits, seriously break out of that place. No good can come from that scenario. If, however, charades gets sprung on you, or if you show weakness and allow the game to suck you in a little then I have a strategy. You want to know what it is? Find a happy place. [...]

In the late nineties and early part of last decade, Deftones broke out into the nu-metal scene alongside bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, and the myriad of other groups you've likely attempted to repress far back into your memory bank. Or maybe it's just me trying to repress those memories. However, there has always been something about Deftones that sets them apart from peers. I remember buying their third studio album White Pony in early 2001 and being blown away. Chino Moreno's lung-dropping vocals with all the fuzz in the world has always reacted greatly to [...]

MetalSucks recently polled its staff to determine who are The Top 25 Modern Metal Guitarists, and after an incredible amount of arguing, name calling, and physical violence, we have finalized that list! The only requirements to be eligible for the list were that the musician in question had to a) play metal (duh), b) play [...]

This past Sunday, Noa, Frank, Sean and I made our way to the Music Hall of Williamsburg to watch the Dillinger Escape Plan perform a headlining gig. I have probably seen this band close to 20 times, and everytime I think they won't be able to top the previous show, they just go ahead and ...
