Thursday night The Horseshoe was packed for a Dine Alone records extravaganza featuring Dinosaur Bones . It was their fourth birthday, aw. Starting with a burst of energy perhaps still lingering from Young Rival's set, the quintet played songs from 2010's Birthright EP, 2011's My Divider and a few yet-to-be-released new songs. On display immediately was the band's professionalism, precision and skill. They have a stadium pop-rock (think The Stills, Muse) quality that was surprising to hear at The Horseshoe (it's up to you whether you think that's [...]

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 4 / BRY WEBB / MUSIC GALLERY / $12 / 19+ In 2010, one of Ontario's finest bands, the Constantines, decided to go on hiatus, leaving Toronto without the voice of the group's frontman, Bry Webb . Thankfully, Webb is back with a new record, Provider . And now three reasons to pop on over to the Beat Kitchen this evening... 1. Chicago's Unicycle Loves You have a solid garage-pop foundation, but their 2010 LP, Mirror, Mirror , found them dabbling in electronics and '80s new wave. Just recently, however, the group released a new track, " Sun Comes Out (And I Don't Care) ," from their upcoming 2011 release, Failure . The song features a lo-fi organ melodies and a bonafide guitar boogie and is a promising taste of what's to come. [...]

Toronto's Dinosaur Bones played to a packed show at Mavericks on October 7, 2011. They were the second opener for New York's Ra Ra Riot . I've seen Dinosaur Bones various times when they come to Ottawa. It was good a fit for them to open up for Ra Ra Riot. Rob Janson ( Sandman Viper Command ) filled in for Dave Wickland who happened to be at some wedding. Overall it was a great set. [...]

It appears that Unicycle Loves You will be hitting the road again shortly, this time most of the upcoming dates are with Dinosaur Bones . WHITE ORANGE - DINOSAUR BONES from made in china records on Vimeo. Straight off their performance at Doe Bay Portland's White Orange know how to write fuzzed out faux-psychedelic rock and roll that will put you in a trance if the neurons in your brain don't harbor the proper GPS devices to weather the storm.

No shortage of good music coming out of Portland these days, and it almost seems as though sludge-rockers White Orange were the only local band not invited to showcase their considerable talents at PDX Pop Now! 2011 . The quartet's self-titled debut drops on September 17th, and thanks to a copious amount of lead time, I've been playing the hell outta the record, riding the molten grooves into the endless psychedelic beaches of Neverafter. And doing it loudly, to boot. A little too aggressive for the pure stoner [...]

New York indie rockers Ra Ra Riot have mapped out on an extensive leg of North American tour dates behind last year's LP The Orchard . Featuring a slew of stops in both Canada and the U.S, in addition to appearances at DeLuna Fest and DeLuna Fest , the trek will keep the band on the road through the end of November. Check out the band's complete touring itinerary below. Also, Ra Ra Riot recently recorded a recorded a three-song session with LaundroMatinee . It took place [...]

by teepoo If you didn't get enough of Dinosaur Bones at NXNE here's a video of them performing at NYC's BreakThru Radio . Great song, with even greater lyrics. I love that no matter where they perform, they always sound awesome.
The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern | Toronto, Ontario | June 18th 2011 | Full Set NXNE is a bit difficult to navigate- there are so many venues, so many amazing artists, and only a few days to experience everything. There was one band at the top of my list- Dinosaur Bones. I heard of them through a Montreal friend who was buddies with bassist Branko Scekic, and upon discovering their music... Damn . The band are [...]
The world hasn't heard much new music from Los Campesinos! since they announced the launch of their fanzine in December, but now CoS has the premiere of the Wales-based indie-pop collective's remix of Dinosaur Bones ' "N.Y.E.". And while Los Campesinos!'s reworking of the fourth track from Dino Bone's debut LP, My Divider , doesn't really stray too far from the original , it's still a really interesting listen. The rehashing turns down the track's drums and clamoring bass line and trades them in for a more [...]
