I spoke to Patrick Stickles (Diplomats,Titus Andronicus) and Alex Tretiak (Dipolomats,Zombie Orgy), about their old bands from high school, bootlegs, tone deafness, back to the future, touring and various other things - FNR: So I've been listening to those diplomats recordings Mr. Tretiak hooked me up with. That was you on lead vox? I thought it was the other guy and you were on backing vocals... STICKLES: It was mostly Sarim of Liquor Store, I sang lead on 'Who's Barbara [...]

Before we start complaining, let's just make one thing clear: I'm happy to have Dip Set back. Even with new kids leading the way, Harlem doesn't sound like it used to, and Jimmy, Cam and Juelz (and araabMuzik, who has taken the favored producer status that once belonged to Heatmakerz) can do no wrong in the eyes of this writer, who remembers hording copies of the original Diplomats mix tapes like they were gold back in the day. But during the group's absence, some of the less talented but equally entertaining members of the crew-my favorite being Mr. [...]

I don't need an excuse to post up a 7L mix of ' 80s yacht rock ...so how do you think when I saw this? Shouts to JTTS fam George and Frank the Butcher (Concepts) for this. via The Butcher's Block The reign of the Harlem Diplomats is without a doubt one of the most influential periods in modern hip-hop. The movement that officially started with family features on Camron's [...]
Dip Set producer and Providence native Araabmuzik announced yesterday via Twitter that he will be releasing a deluxe edition of his excellent, MPC-and-rave-music fueled instrumental album Electronic Dream , one of my favorite albums of 2011, today (December 13), which will feature six new bonus tracks not included on the original release. Despite the glaring lack of Cam, Jimmy, Juelz or Vado, this shit still bangs heavy. Not to mention dude has one of the best drops in the game. check after the jump for [...]

Stepping on the scene with Cypress Hill affiliates Soul Assassins, the young Alchemist got his feet wet supplying sample-heavy beats to backpacker stalwarts Dilated Peoples. The "unlikely"/totally likely Diplomats reunion is already well into its second year, and yet, we're still without much product except for tons of blog coverage of their reunion shows. That makes sense in some regards: The Diplomats were always style over substance. But some rap media outlets are totes sick of waiting: Take Vibe, for instance, which recently cornered Juelz and asked him about the Diplomats reunion album. Juelz mostly just says that the group doesn't want to rush the album, and it'll be out when it's ready. So, basically Juelz is saying no new Diplomats album yet, but expect [...]

photos by Brook Bobbins , words by BBG Before the Diplomats hit the stage, the DJ treated the highly energized crowd to a mix of current hits and classics - shouting out the late, great Harlem emcee Big L while mixing it up with hits by Rick Ross and Meek Mill. Once the Diplomats hit the stage, the crowd's energy level soared, chants of "Dipset!" accompanying the Diplomats as they performed songs like "Bout It Bout It Pt. 3," [...]

Looks like there will be a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Blakroc project after all. The collaborative project, which saw blues-rock revivalists The Black Keys and Roc-A-Fella co-creator Damon Dash bringing together a wide range of established emcees to the booth for the 2009 self-titled studio album, will bring in some newer heads for the upcoming sequel including Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, The Cool Kids, Jay Electronica and more. The Diplomats ' wunderkind in-house beatmaker and overall MPC-ravaging producer, araabMUZIK made big moves this past year with his debut solo endeavor, Electronic Dream . Taking a small step away from his careful street anthem formula, the artist melded techno and trance elements into his high BPM, upbeat music and demonstrated a knack for creating lush soundscapes (without losing the rap banger feel that fans recognize him for). Watch the latest video for "Streetz Tonight" and an in-studio peformance in which dude provides a no-frills demo of his Akai mastery. araabMUZIK - Streetz Tonight [...]

Last week DJ Munari dropped the snippet to "PUSH", this week we have the full version. Track taken off the upcoming collaborative album OVERDOZE MUZIK with AraabMUZIK(Diplomats).
Here's one of those stories that seems impossible, and probably just a case of the group blowing smoke, but might be crazy enough to be true: According to a story on XXlmag.com, the Diplomats are currently shopping their life stories to Hollywood screenwriters, in an effort to get someone to turn their story into a biopic. The group's idea is that someone could write a movie about them forming as a group, ending with their "triumphant" reunion (which technically has hardly started yet). They envision it as something like Notorious, apparently and they think they can play themselves: [...]
