Los Angeles Times (MCT) -- TORONTO - Of all the personalities to turn up at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, none seemed more outsized, and yet oddly appropriate, than Madonna. The singer and actress is looking to make her mark on the directing world. And Toronto, host to 300 films and a dizzying array of international celebrities, seems the perfect venue for one of the most famous women in the world to take up a new career. So into...
Direct Hit! – Domesplitter | bandcamp. Download "Monster in the Closet" (mp3). Direct Hit! is a pop punk band that has released 5 EPs in the past 4 years. Domesplitter is their first full length album. They surveyed their fans to compile a list of the ten favorite songs from their earlier EPs. Then the re-recorded them as this new album. There is an aggressive edge to the songs, but with a catchy approach that makes the musical assault punch with a belligerent exuberance. Click here for a list of albums released this [...]

With 5 digital EPs under their belt and their debut full length just over a month away, Direct Hit! is pumping up (pun intended) for it's release. Guitarist and singer Nick Woods spoke to staff interviewer Justin Dickman about the decision to include already released material, the process of using Kickstarter , Nick's illicit thoughts on the comic adaptation trend in Hollywood; including the beloved and the scorned, as well as his favorites when it comes to the comic world. Not to mention, a genuine authentic Nick Woods comic book idea, subject to copyright.
Irreverent, energetic, and just fucking fun , Direct Hit started out as a side project for Nick Woods while he was playing lead guitar in power pop band The Box Social . When the band broke up in 2008, however, Nick turned Direct Hit into a full time gig. Over the next year and a half or so, the band went through three different bass players, four different drummers, and a keyboard player, putting out five EPs and a couple of splits along the way. Eventually they settled into a steady lineup, and started work on what would [...]

Direct Hit! have teamed up with Alternative Press to premiere a song off their debut full length Domesplitter. The album is a collection of sorts, comprised of rerecorded and reimagined songs from the band's five EPs (#1-#5), that were released for free download through Bandcamp. I'm gonna get all punk news dot com for a second and indulge in the balls out pop rockin' I grew up on. Direct Hit! hit us up a way long time ago to share their love for The Thermals and stock us with one of their tunes, and I'm just sorry it has taken me this long to share the rage with my pals. These jams exude youth infested sing-a-longs, sweaty pits (both arm and mosh), and the kind of non-stop energy that doesn't even leave a spare moment to sneak-a-toke. Way legit production as well, get [...]
