While never quite my favourite from Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellan – which conversely just so happened to feature right up there among our favourite LPs of 2012 – The Socialites proved an intriguing hypothesis on reticence from David Longstreth et al., not least as they at least superficially seem a rather asocial ensemble themselves. Here, Hot Chip kingpin Joe Goddard gives it a reinvigorating spin, and perhaps inevitably readies it for those more explicitly sociable sorts of scenario – grubby dance floors, grimy house parties and the like. Though as [...]

Listen to Hot Chip's Joe Goddard remix of Dirty Projectors' latest single "The Socialites", taken from the band's last year's album, "Swing Lo Magellan". It feels so good. This remix will appear on Dirty Projectors' upcoming "The Socialites" Remixes 123, which also features reworks by the likes of AlunaGeorge and FaltyDL. Out digitally and physically on May 13th via Domino. Pre-order your copy here .

With Record Store Day fast approaching in a few weeks, it's easy to forget that people will be releasing good things after 20 April. Luckily, we'll still have something special to look forward to in the form of this, a Dirty Projectors remix 123 featuring AlunaGeorge and Hot Chip's Joe Goddard . Domino will release The Socialites remix collection on 13 May, featuring reworkings from [...]

Dirty Projectors have announced they'll be releasing a remix 12", featuring remixes of 'The Socialites' from 2012's Swing Lo Magellan . The white label 12" vinyl will be released on May 13th via Domino Records, and will feature remixes from Joe Goddard, AlunaGeorge and FaltyDL. Listen to the Joe Goddard remix below, and head to the Domino site to pre-order the release.

Always good for a swift remix, Joe Goddard comes through and recreated Dirty Projector's "The Socialites" with an electronic twist. Kicking the wonky original into a higher gear of beating bass and sloshing synths, the only thing kept intact is the infectious vocals of Amber Coffman. This remix will land on a remix 123 of "The Socialites", which will sport remixes from AlunaGeorge and FaltyD, too. Expect that to drop May 13.

All the best things happen in SXSW. This is a life lesson we will all eventually learn. Above is some footage of Major Lazer and Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors performing "Get Free" live for the very first time. It's interesting to see Major Lazer channel a completely different energy on stage here alongside the demure Coffman, as most of their material is substantially more upbeat. Instead, everyone both on and off stage just mellow out to Coffman's soothing vocals. Check out the performance above.

If all good things do indeed come to an end though better things come in waves, then Brooklyn would seem to be returning to the prominence afforded it around the mid-'00s: Yeasayer were then appearing – a joyous, though discombobulating premonition – whilst David Longstreth was diligently projecting a dirtied reinterpretation of Black Flag's seminal hardcore cornerstone, Damaged . The place was then reaping the rewards of a carefree fertility, though it has since seemed to stagnate somewhat. Vibrancy, however, is now returning and even from the above abstract impressionism, it is immediately apparent that Adios Ghost – an [...]
