As previously reported , Dirty Projectors are back with their sixth LP, Swing Lo Magellan , on July 10th via Domino Records. In support of the release, the band has scheduled a massive summer tour, which kicks off with an appearance at the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 5th. Last year Dirty Projectors , in an interview with Spin, hinted that they had developed a sort of dark side while working on their sixth studio effort. There are a few things about this record that are unique though. One of them is the afformentioned dark side- as shown in their recent single "Gun Has No Trigger". Dirty Projectors "Gun Has No Trigger" David Longstreth's compositions on previous Dirty Projectors releases, particularly on Bitte Orca and The Getty Address, were immediately dazzling things that shook the listener with unusual approaches to rhythm and harmony, so it's understandable that some people would come to "Gun Has No Trigger" and feel a bit ho-hum about its low-key simplicity. Dirty Projectors have returned, and they've done it with one hell of a big bang. A new album is supposedly in the works following up their 2009 release, Bitte Orca . More new material is said to be on the way later in Spring but for now get your fix with the track titled "Gun Has No Trigger" via Domino Records Soundcloud stream below. The song features some fantastic vocal work along with some heavy bass. Just what the Doctor ordered.
