The Disco Biscuits are closing out Day 2 of Forecastle. The Disco Biscuits are a progressive kind of trance jam band with electro layers that have been going strong since the mid-90s. Their live show can go on for seemingly years, blending free-form jazz improvisations and rave-like rhythm. The fans completely lose themselves in the music surrounding them. I have a feeling this may be another Arcade Fire or Umphrey's McGee experience for me. Whether or not that is a good thing will be for you to figure out. While this may seem more of a Bonnaroo [...]

"And He heard the Disco Biscuits...this-this- Jam-tronica ... and He was pleased." I hear some great stuff on Sirius Satellite's Jam On . They've been turning me on more and more to the coolness that is Philadelphia's Disco Biscuits . I've known them only as one of those mainstays on the periphery of the jamband scene - but I've really grown to appreciate their melding of electronic music into the "jam" scene. Hence Jamtronica. Soothing to the ear. Groove-a-licious to the soul. The Disco Biscuits - Spacebirdmatingcall [...]

Our regular Thursday fuckfaces are back at it. So, gentlemen, please welcome back to the stage, Destiny and Chartreuse, better known as Rupert & Stan . Today we're bringing our ol' One-Timers feature to Hidden Track, a piece that's more of a bouillabaisse of rapid fire topics like album and show reviews, new bands, films and downloads. Since we only write one post a week, it's a way to spew out a lot of what's been on our minds and headphones in one fell swoop. [...]

aka the "Song Segment That Got Me Hooked…" In case you haven't noticed, I've been on a bit of a Disco Biscuits kick lately. The band was featured in our latest podcast , they just announced a bunch of Spring/Summer tour dates , and today, they added a headlining slot at the Starscape Festival in Baltimore on June 9th. With all this new "Bisco" news on the mind, I've been re-visiting some of my old favorites from the archives. And because it's April 9th, I thought [...]

photo by headylife The Disco Biscuits -- whose dub-stye jams we featured in our most recent podcast -- continue to flesh out their Spring and Summer tour dates at a rapid pace. In addition to the band's recent announcements about its Trancegression festival (with Umphrey's McGee ) and stops at 10KLF and the Jam on the River , the band has also added a bunch of Spring tour dates in the Northeast. This news is sure to [...]
The Disco Biscuits covered Devo "Whip It" a couple weeks ago? WTF... Disco Biscuits - "Whip It" (live) [mp3]
During Umphrey's McGee's set at Lollapalooza, some dude walked over near our blanket and sat down for a second to fiddle with his backpack. He grabbed a large handful of discs and threw one over by us. Our first reaction: what the hell/fuck/shit is this guy doing? I look down at the disc and see art very similar to the Disco Biscuits The Wind at Four to Fly discs. I look over as he gets up to leave and I notice that the dude is in fact Marc Browstein, the [...]
My attempt to post an MP3 by every band/artist from Lollapalooza (excluding those on the kids stage) has finally come to an end. Hooray! At this point, I think I got almost everyone except Sa Ra, Manishevitz, The Burden Brothers, Moses Mayfield, Assassins, and Makeshifte. I did post a few by nands that cancelled from the orignial lineup so hopefully you can all forgive me. Posts will be infrequent over the weekend as I take in the sights and sounds of Lollapalooza and a full wrap-up will follow next [...]
