"But the main reason we picked this title is because we thought it sounded cool, to be perfectly honest." It was a typical response [...]
Martin Solveig reliably produces over-the-top music videos for his dance-pop anthems, and the just-released video for "Big in Japan" is no exception. In it, Solveig and his partner-in-crime "Monseur Lafaille" run wild through Japan, piloting a helicopter over Tokyo, hitting up a geisha parlor and getting taken down by Inglourious Basterds star Melanie Laurent. We love that Solveig never takes himself - or his videos - too seriously, and this one is as fun to watch as the song is to dance to. Take a look below! Via: Get In! [...]

Well this came out of nowhere. Last week reports surfaced that members of Bloc Party sans frontman Kele Okereke had entered the studio without telling him of their recording plans. Today, NME confirmed that the band have entered the studio without their lead vocalist and are actually auditioning new vocalists to record with them...What an odd turn of events. Read more here

Filed under: News , Exclusive , Q + A Big Hassle Marissa Nadler has never written songs quite as autobiographical as the ones on her June-released self-titled album, though the Boston singer tells Spinner that she's taken care to mask certain details -- such as names. "I made the mistake of doing that once before, and I kind of got into trouble with it," Nadler says. "I wrote a song [...]

Brown Bread - Pocahontas Emily Reo - On The Beach Our buddy Wayne Memmer, of Vacation and the retired sounds of Fossil Cities , has embarked on the admirable project of compiling tribute albums featuring a gorgeous mix of exclusive covers from friends and folks we really dig listening to. As we type there's a Cure tribute in the works, but what I'm so pleased to share today is a collection of nods to Neil Young that are each more than loved enough to stand on their [...]

Legends like Neil Young are always difficult to cover. I really like this compilation, curated by Universal Electricity because it is so different, and each artists interpretation is so unlike the original. I know I'm a bit late on this one but I really wanted to share it with you guys. It features some great ones like Foxes in Fiction, Teen Daze, Emily Reo, Breakfast in Fur, and Ghost Animal. You can download the whole album at the link below. HEADED FOR THE DITCH Teen Daze- [...]
Indie artists record some downright nutso covers of Neil Young tunes.
I've never been a big "covers" guy. I don't know why, that's just how I'm wired I guess. Especially when it comes to two people - Bob Dylan and Neil Young.... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
I got an email from Matt over at Everybody Taste about this compilation yesterday, and, being the idiot I am, I slept on it at the time. Seriously, who sees the words "Teen Daze covers Neil Young" and doesn't immediately click download? Well I downloaded it today and after one listen to Ghost Animal's cover of "Helpless", I declared this a Must Listen. Just LOOK at this star-studded line-up: 1. Lost Boy? - "Hey Babe (Butchered Version)" 2. Fossil Cities - "After The Gold Rush" 3. Quilt - "Sugar Mountain" [...]

I don't care who you are, if you dig music you unconciously maintain a list of artists in your head. That list is labeled "The Un-Fucking-Touchables". That list includes artists that have touched you and whose specific arrangements shall never be fucked with, lest they change your perception of that song that moved your life. So when wind of a compilation of Neil Young covers by the likes of Teen Daze, Ghost Animal, and Quilt hit my face, I blew it off. This is what happens when one gets all elistest about [...]

Genre: lofi, pop, chill wave Label: Universal Electricity As the title says, a Neil Young tribute sampler with some interpretations by Vacation, Breakfast in Fur, Fossil Cities and more. I am not so much into Neil Young, just know some classics and the annoying Dead Man soundtrack. But the cover versions are pretty nice and they could be written by the artists them self. Filed under: News , Exclusive , Q + A Gary Wolstenholme, Getty Images Henceforth, the story of Abe Vigoda will be told in two parts: the years leading up to and following the arrival of Dane Chadwick. The drummer joined in 2009, five years and three albums into the band's run, and in helping to write songs for last year's 'Crush,' he brought about a radical shift in sound, introducing [...]
