Jennifer Charles is a relatively unknown singer, but has been singing in jazz-rock band Elysian Fields for almost 15 years. Her smoky and sultry voice make her a stand out but what makes Jennifer different from other similar jazz vocalists, like Diana Krall or Norah Jones, is that she sounds like she is having sex while she sings. I don't know if its on purpose, but it is undeniable. It brings a new meaning to the term "sexy voice." Another reason Jen is so high on this list, besides having an amazing voice, is the bonus points she gets for [...]

The lineup for Jam Cruise 8 was announced earlier this week, and it's really quite impressive as always. Departing Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Jam Cruise 8 will set sail January 3-8, 2010 on board the beautiful MSC Poesia and will visit the tropical ports of Ocho Rios, Jamaica and George Town, Cayman Islands. With 5 days and nights aboard the ship, there is plenty of time to kick back with friends and see an unbelievable amount of music. Who's going? [...]
Just a brief note to express my love of this slinky bit of acid jazz. DJ Logic mixes hip-hop beats with some '70s organ grooves. Is there anything less cool or more ecstatic than this fusion? It seems unlikely. For music lovers only. Taken from his 2001 album, Project Logic . DJ Logic - Shea's Groove (alternate download)
Paul Dateh and DJ inka one will perform at LA's Concrete Frequency Happy New Year. I'll be back in a day or two. And while there may be some unwritten bloggers code prohibiting such indulgence after December 31st, I'm gonna post up my obligatory, but belated, year-end list tomorrow or Thursday. Just wasn't able to get to it mid-late December before the holidays like the past two years (when these things are really supposed to be posted). In the meantime, here's a New [...]

Lately I have been listening to a lot of hip hop, soul, remixes, jazz, bossa nova, and funk. I got so much to share so let's start with these songs: Welsh songwriter Jem has an awesome track mixed by Cut Chemist Jem - They (Cut Chemist Vocal Mix) Sean told me about these guys a while back, he was helping them with their shows or something. These LA locals mix this jazzy, swingin, bouncy break piece swell. Free the Robots [...]

team durutti works on the los amigos year end favorite album list Makin' a list and checkin' it twice . It's that time of the year. A time that brings both smiles and grimaces to the face of music bloggers everywhere. Yes, it's time for the obligatory year end list, which, in los amigos case is really more of a "favorite albums of the year" list than a "best of" tally. (NOTE: a tiny bit of precise order tweaking occurred in the few days since I committed myself [...]

still a bigger fan of Project Logic . this is off his second album The Anomoly . i believe my oldy roomie benny burned this for me. DJ Logic "Michelle"

By: David Schultz It lacks the posturing and taunting of its rap counterpart and there surely are no recorded accounts of a feud degenerating into shocking acts of violence but in the world of high-octane, electronica fueled jambands, an overactive imagination can envision a rivalry amongst the East coast and West coast bands. The competition seems to take place on stage, with each of the bands amping up their sets to offer fans the liveliest show possible. While The Disco Biscuits and U-Melt are representative of the East Coast; the California based Particle [...]
