Melorman: Waves - Melorman is the brainchild of electronic artist Antonis Haniotakis. Born in raised in Athens, Greece, he has been featured on many indie labels, including Sun Sea Sky , CCT Records , and Summer Rain Recordings . Debuting in 2007 with Far Away Morning , the artist has since released two additional albums, his last being After Noon , which was released in 2011. Melorman's sound is lush, comprised of intricate harmonies, clever breakdowns, and various electronic instruments looping over one another. Melorman creates [...]

Frank Yang Though generally referred to as a reunion, the return this year of The Postal Service to active duty is unlike most others in that it's to mark a very specific occasion - the 10th anniversary and reissue of their only album Give Up - and comes with no promise or expectation of carrying on after the occasion is past. And as much as people might think they want a second Postal Service record, I suspect that the truth is they don't. Much of the magic of [...]

I know very little about Akela the Lone Wolf , but I do know he's a producer from Northern California, his debut album Catalyst is dropping sometime this year, and i'm obsessed with the first single, "Waaves (feat. JSPR)". Easily my favorite song this month. It's an experimental/ambient track, with a sound and style comparable to the likes of Blackbird Blackbird, Bonobo, Dntel, and Teen Daze, but definitely an original and creative piece of music. I can't wait to hear more. facebook // twitter // tumblr // soundcloud

Before Grammy nominations and blockbuster soundtracks, M83 proved to the world that shoegaze and electronica could thrive in the same space. The then-duo feasted on a history of computer music, striving to create life with airless tools. By aspiring to post-rock heights with dusty samples and laymen's synths, Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau broke a longstanding mold of restrained, austere electronic music. Under their hands, synths could swell and scream like forces of nature. Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts started M83 on the track to global recognition, and still stands as one of [...]
The recent reunion of the Postal Service (and release of two new tracks) had a lot of fans wondering if another album was in the works - speaking of which, why haven't they made another album!? Actually, they tried to. In a recent interview with Exclaim.ca, Jimmy Tamborello (aka Dntel) revealed some info about what became of the second Postal Service album. Read More...

Everybody and their mother knows that The Postal Service are back. The more important thing, though, is that they will be coming through DC when they play Merriweather Post Pavilion on Tuesday, June 18th. We're giving away a pair of lawn tickets for the show. What do you have to do to win? Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello will be bringing Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis, who recorded guest vocals on a few Give Up tracks, along for the ride. That's about as super as an indie supergroup gets. [...]

Have you ever been curious about the beginnings of The Postal Service ? Many will know that the duo started out in a rather respectful manner, with the United States Postal Service playing a major role, but a new video on Funny or Die looks to alter the history books. The rare footage is of a series of auditions held by Sub Pop Records, with Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel) and a record executive sitting through tryouts by "Weird Al" Yankovic, Aimee Mann, Moby, Duff McKagan, and more. It's not until Ben Gibbard steps up that Dntel knows he's [...]
Postal Service just can't stop adding dates. The Postal Service have added even more tour dates. I think this only proves that the band's reunion is going extremely well. New music in the...
Postal Service end their 10-year silence with a 'new' song. Okay, so this track, "A Tattered Line of String" isn't technically new, unless you live by the policy, 'if I haven't heard/seen/eaten it, then it's new to me.' This song was written during the sessions of the band's [...]

Recently there's been a ton of buzz about the Postal Service due to the duo's recent reformation. Of course, people are drooling over the possibility of a new album, and there's some titillation over this new song that's streaming in the YouTube video above; however, I'm just skeptical as to how excited I should get, because all of these recent events just feel orchestrated in the name of the soon-to-be-released reissue of the Service's only full-length album, Give Up . I love Give Up , I'd love for more people to hear it, but I would love some [...]

At long last, The Postal Service has shared a new track, which will be featured on the Give Up reissue which is set for release April 9th. Check out the first of two new songs to be released with the reissue below: "A Tattered Line of String"
