Happy Days. We tip the bag and let the mix spill out, rocking, barking, dripping, going soft, psyching it to ya, nipping off to Scandinavia, etc. If we don't match your mood/desire, it's not for lack of caring or trying. You may have noticed I'm on a bit of a Winter-hating trip this week, and with another 20 cm of snow forecast for today to go along with the 30 or so we got on Friday, that's probably not going to end anytime soon. And while I'm not so naive as to suggest that music is a strong enough anodyne to counter the February blahs, putting on a record of concentrated Summer-y power pop goodness like Two Hours Traffic's Little Jabs does help a bit. I responded favourably [...]

yay voting! only took about 20 minutes which was to my liking. although, i was a bit nervous going in cause according to the ga secretary of state my status was "inactive," and it didnt give any kind of comprehensible verbiage to what that exactly meant. apparentl, it meant very little cause i was able to vote for the first time since '92. yeah, i'm on top of shit. new design? yes? no? who fuckin cares? being that i am lazy, sometimes it's the stuff that hits my inbox, while i happen to be in it, [...]

Sports Note #1: I may not be the best sports prognosticator in the world, but I'm often really good at it even though I'm normally one of the few people that will jump off the ledge and not go with the standards. Of course the baseball season has just ended and earlier in the year I made some bold predicitons. I faired pretty well getting five of the eight playoff teams right (I was wrong with the Twins, Dodgers, and Mets.) So now I just want to go ahead and make my post-season predictions for you as well. Yanks over [...]
Well there's nothing to get you through another hump day like some fine Halifax video content. First up we have Dog Day, one of the finest indie-rock outfits in Halifax at the moment with a very stylish performance video for Oh Dead Life . Next up we have one of Halifax's finest MC's, Ghettosocks, with his video for Step To A T-Rex , which looks like the funkiest elementary school play I've ever seen. Two very cool videos, enjoy. MP3:: Dog Day - Oh Dead Life [...]
The Ack mentioned the latest acts added to the Pop Explosion the other day (The Besnard Lakes, Brother Ali, Dog Day, Matt Mays & El Torpedo), and I have to say, each one of those acts is a welcome addition. At this point I think the 15th edition of the Explosion is going to be one of, if not the best in the event's history. So to continue our fest pre-game coverage, I thought I'd discuss the two latest local acts added to the roster. As Ack mentioned, we reviewed Dog Day's debut, Night Group [...]

Biographical information about Dog Day is quite scarce; there isn't even a Wikipedia entry about them. How on earth am I supposed to pretend I'm knowledgable when nobody has neatly laid out the information, ready for me to steal! But alas, I seem to have gathered a rough idea of just who and what Dog Day are. Originating from Canada (apparently from Halifax, though such detail is meaningless to me), they are a four-piece with both sexes equally represented. Their sound, I must admit, is a rather standard indie rock sound. But this does not bring them down because they [...]

Here's some somewhat new music from largely unknown bands that you may not have heard of yet. Have a go. 65daysofstatic This guitar-driven post-rock band from Sheffield, England, is poised to garner greater acclaim after a supposedly scorching performance at SXSW that earned them a slot opening for alternative stalwarts The Cure on their fall tour. Their third album, The Destruction of Small Ideas , was released this spring. Buy it here . Oh, and [...]

Image: Morris Louis Somebody Changed - The Clientele The Clientele can be so sleepy and soft even my narcoleptic jell-bellied cat (who sits next to me while I write most blog posts and listens to everything I listen to) rolls her green eyes in scorn when a Clientele song comes on. Which I guess is why, despite the fact that Strange Geometry was one of my favorite albums of 2005, [...]
Dog Day - Lydia When I first put on Dog Day's new album, Night Group, the first thought that crossed my mind was "wow, this is really just perfect for the moment", meaning that at the time, a week or so ago, I was super tired, feeling kind of beat up and overwhelmed, and needed a pick me up. Dog Day absolutely delivered. I also thought, "I wonder if Night Group will still be satisfying on later listens?" - I'll tell you, a couple weeks later, listening to the album it is just as enjoyable as the first time....

...will be coming to That's Fucking Dynamite this Thursday! Make sure you don't miss out on our most outrageous Five Favorites ever! Featuring some of the most scandelous photos of Nathan ever seen on the internet or otherwise. Until then, we're going to tide you over with some tracks from the only other album I've been listening to other than Nathan Wiley's sensational The City Destroyed Me (out on Sonic Records May 28 wherever fine records are sold), the new Dog Day album, Night Group . Holy f'in moses it's [...]
Right now Dog Day is my raised fist, clenched and cocked, ready to slam down and splinter the tabletops of all that awaits my post graduate years. They are singing the swan song of my final (?) years of academia. I am Dustin Hoffman sinking ever so sweetly into the waters of my parent's pool, raising my finger to the sun before a slip silently into the comforts of cubicle work and twenty
