Dolly Mixture movie gets bagged up by Brighton Take Three Girls aka The Dolly Mixture Story, gets a rare outing soon. The film directed by Paul Kelly is about 80s seminal girl indiepopsters The Dolly Mixture , who combined girlie dresses and DM boots with great 60s flecked pop. The showing will be at Hotel Pelirocco, 10 Regency Square, Brighton, BN1 2FG on Sunday 29th April. Doors from 6.00pm and the film duration is approximately 40 minutes. 'Remember This - The Singles Collection 1980-1984' will be a coloured vinyl version, only available through the Rough Trade shop. Dolly Mixture - too sweet? Happy memories - I had this single back in 1980 (still in a drawer somewhere) & it's sweet, sweet, sweet. Maybe too much so for the band - Debsey, Rachel, & Hester ?, since apparently they disowned this Chrysalis Records 7" because it pushed 'em as a teeny-girl group, rather than... well, rather than what they really were I spose; certainly their other singles are quite different in style. I don't think I'd describe the cover art as "almost paedophiliac" though - would you?. Enough debate. Championed & sessioned by John Peel during 1979, and with a number [...]
