Co-premiere with Ad Hoc Let's be honest: when it comes to all things "new age," you're probably either a believer, or you're not. And no matter what we say about the latest tape by Antwerp's Lieven Martens, aka Dolphins Into the Future , it's not gonna change your mind. A Star Maker, Strange Dreams, and Clairvoyance is the loop artist's second release under his principal guise this year, following last month's Canto Arquipélago on Underwater Peoples . That LP was dedicated to the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores, allegedly home to [...]

Today NNA Tapes dropped a batch (batch dropping! the new way to release in 2012!) and the first one to tumble out onto my speakers was the new Dolphins Into the Future. Lieven Martens, the ebbulient Belgian behind the project, has been steadily droppng for several years now (the Discogs page is a lot to deal with), most notably, in my mind, a wonderful split with Monopoly Child Star Searchers (Spencer Clark from Skaters) in 2009 that I remember first catching my eye. We have the first side here...

There's a new Dolphins Into The Future record due out on March 6th (on Underwater Peoples ) and one of my fav video artists, Zahid Jiwa , has teamed up with the Cetacian Nation President himself for this new video. Things are sounding a little more percussive than usual as he creeps up onto the island, perhaps taking a few cues maybe from recent(ish) tours with Monopoly Child Star Searchers . buy
inspired by landscapes (as oppposed to seascapes) so altogether less aquatic burble and more warm igneous gloop. yes. beniffer / experimedia Filed under: music i listen to Tagged: beniffer editions , dolphins into the future , music , music review , two romanitc landscapes

Terecht? [...]

Mix: Dolphins Into The Futue - VARIOUS NEW ROMANTICS' COFFEE MOODS FOR ROSE QUARTZ (40mb) Been hitting Lieven Martens up to make us a guest mix for a while now, and actually he's come up with the best thing ever; on the recent Dolphins Into The Future/Monopoly Child New Zealand tour of New Zealand he turned me onto a lot of this lite, dreamy 80s pop and missed or revisited classics like Microdisney and Ric Ocasek etc, not quite "Boys Of Summer" but drifting on similar heights and full of super smooth [...]

[RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] Pulling out some long experimental cuts for you today, starting off with Dolphins Into The Future which was random purchase yesterday at Sound Fix , the record store clerk suggested it and i'm glad I picked it up. If you like the soft synths and VHS quality sound then this whole album is perfect for you, i'd suggest getting it on vinyl , it just got repressed. Jane is an lo-fi loop based project consisting of Panda [...]

Tweet Part One: Michael Tapscott 1. Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (DefJam) Kanye West - 'Runaway' The most controversial and real public figure almost caused a fist fight between Joshua and I at this year's Thanksgiving. While Josh contended, correctly so, that Kanye's public persona ruins his art, I contended, also correctly, that it heightens his palette and that the persona is in and of itself a fine work of art. We worked it out, but [...]

wow if this ain't the antithesis to my current ambiance just now: damp, freezing, concrete, grey, murk. s'cold. s'broken. s'oppressive. the rolling-off-the-tongue-ness of ke ala ke kua, has the easy, warming of a codeine duffel coat. so yeah lieven martens back in his pseudonymous dolphins into the future guise, transmitting ultraterrestial sonar burbles from his aquatic antwerp lair. now i realise some of y'all neither get nor like all the associated joan ocean, dolphins, cetacean nation gubbins that comes as part of the package. point to jean-luc bozzoli's [...]

Friday 24th Sept - The Cube, Bristol Woodtipper's set was too short...just as it was blossoming in teeny sunburned hand grandeur, it was over... Improv tangles, of a fluffy sunset quality, Casio melodies and knitted sceneries... just needed that little bit more... [...]

There are few things that can quite raise the levels of hype quite so much as collaboration. Just as preteens got overexcited as Kanye West and Justin Bieber discussed their possible collaboration, Pitchfork watchers in the UK surely must've been salivating once it became clear that Spectrals would be playing as the backing band for Real Estate's side project Ducktails. And so, to an expectant, sweaty upstairs room in Manchester, the coming together of two would-be heavyweights played out seemingly in technicolour to an almost bewildered crowd. The otherworldly, parallel universe feel was hardly discouraged by the support [...]

Neo-newage proselytzer Lieven Martens aka Dolphins into the Future and tropical jammaster Matt Mondanile aka Ducktails (also guitarist for Real Estate ) will be playing live this Monday at Arkaoda on the other side of the town. We've been enjoying Ducktails' sun soaked synth jams and Dolphins' otherworldly drones for some time, so it'll be a welcome experience to watch them live. Don't miss! [...]
