It's rare when a band is willing to experiment so much on a second album. With the success of Ambitions , Donkeyboy could have easily crafted a record full of clones, hoping to replicate success. Instead, they've taken influence from the excellent Bassflow mix of that same single and upped the tempo and electronic influence. It's exactly what I'd hoped they'd come back with. 1. Silver Moon - Opens the album in a swinging fashion, with a simple refrain and uptempo electronic beat. It's a great, straightforward pop song that would do [...]

"You could be someone" I really need this new Donkeyboy album in my life. Though I loved their first one, it appears that they've done exactly what I'd hoped they would for the follow-up. The tempo's ratcheted up, the synths are more prominent, and the band sound like they're having fun. After the brilliant City Boy , this is their newest single. It retains the excellent melodic skill found in their biggest hits, but adds a bouncy, summery beat and an earworm hook (does it remind anyone else of Eiffel 65?). If the rest of [...]

35. The Sounds - Something To Die For A late-career highlight. Sometimes all it takes is a well written pop song, and this definitely fits the bill. 34. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (TGIF) Katy Perry's chart run continued unabated this year, and this track reignited interest in her brand of young, glossy pop. [...]

"Underneath this doubt there's an ego" I've established that Donkeyboy have one of the worst band name in pop music a long time ago, but that doesn't really matter because boy they're excellent. And they're back! City Boy is the first teaser from their upcoming album and, from the sound of it, they're going a little more electronic. While this might not be as lush as their past singles, I'm pleased that it's more uptempo. At first, the processed vocals irritated me, but I've grown to really love them--especially with the overall sound of the record. [...]

Day Three is upon us! Today, I'll focus on Avery, the "unattainable" (as he puts it) girl of Jesse's dreams: AVERY WICKSEN Who: seventeen-year-old post-grad transferred to Skyship Academy several years ago ** works in the ship's library after failing to attain Pearl agent-status ** known for sneaking around the ship, looking for trouble Songs: Pacific! - Break Your Social System Avery's selections are more laid-back and downtempo to reflect her personality. Her "whatever" attitude to [...]
Here is a great example of artist collaboration. November 18, Nero Recordings dropped a new track "Never Give Up" produced by Hype Jones and Alex Sayz with vocals from Mario Vasquez. Jones is an American producer based out of LA, I believe. I haven't been able to find too much info on this guy so if anyone has some wisdom to impart please drop a note. While I couldn't find much personal info on this guy I did find a pretty bomb mix of his. Hype Jones - November House Podcast [...]
joe mcelderry - ambitions [last years x-factor winner joe releases his debut single with an interesting non-traditional cover by norwegian band donkeyboy. the song is mega catchy and just a perfect piece of pop. hopefully the rest of joe's album will be a nice mix of this left of center approach, cause if it is, i might just turn into a fan!] donkeyboy - ambitions [check out the less boppy original by the wonderful donkeyboy] http://feeds.feedburner.com/Wo ngiesMusicWorld

For the first single off his upcoming debut album Wide Awake , 2009 X Factor winner Joe McElderry has covered "Ambitions," a grand slice of uplifting pop originally performed by Norwegian band Donkeyboy. Hear Joe's version (plus see his album cover) and watch the video for the original after the jump. Joe McElderry - Ambitions We have to hand it to Joe—this is a surprising (in a good way!) switch-up in sound after his X Factor [...]
Because sometimes we are just too busy making a lasagna and corn flake crispy cakes and watching dreadful horror films to write about everything we saw/heard last week... Kelly Rowland sang about 'Rose Coloured Glasses' Kelly Rowland , everyone's second favourite member of Destiny's Child after Michelle Williams , follows up 'Commander' with this dance ballad about spectacles. Not too sure about the shirt & tie combo, but she looks good when she smashes a window and butterflies come out of [...]

check it! 2009 xfactor winner joe mcelderry has just debuted his lead UK single & it's a hit 4sure. the new track is a cover of the song "ambitions" from one of our favorite norwegian acts donkeyboy (we've gushed about them a lot before - their track "sometimes" made our best of '09 list ) - it's a mid-tempo electro-ish pop ballad & it has all the makings of a UK #1. catch it below! don't you know??

Joe McElderry 's debut album ' Wide Awake ' is released on October 25th and will be preceded by lead single ' Ambitions ' (initially referred to as 'Somebody') on October 10th, meaning he'll be able to promote his material on one of the early X Factor live shows. 'Ambitions' premiered on BBC Radio 1 earlier tonight, so the wheels are certainly in motion for Joe's official launch. Take a listen to Joe's new single. Click here to view the embedded video. [...]
Here's another song I'm semi-obsessed with right now, though not nearly as deep as Susanne Sundfør 's latest . I typically make a point of being at least vaguely familiar with most chart-topping bands because you never know -- sometimes the cream really does rise to the top -- but I had always ignored Donkeyboy because their name sucks and also because, for some reason, I thought they were a hip-hop act and Norwegian hip-hop is almost always awful. I'm late to the game, but I stand corrected! Now I know: Donkeyboy [...]
Oh Donkeyboy , how I love thee! Last year, many a traditional "pop-blogger" (along with my eclectical self ) , fell hard and fast for the Norwegian quintet and their mix of spunky electropop. Today, our love grows a little deeper and extremely more steadfast. Mid-2009 saw the boys release a video for their single, Ambitions . The visuals documented a trip through Abicere Leprous, [...]

Donkeyboy - Ambitions [ mp3 ] A bit late on picking this one up, but I cannot keep this pop perfection from Drammen outfit Donkeyboy from you. Seem's there's life in Norway after A-Ha after all...
In a slight comfort to those of us counting down the days until Melodifestivalen, Norway held the first semifinal of its national selection for Eurovision, the Melodi Grand Prix, recently. Some familiar names took place, including 2008's MGP winner Maria Haukaas Storeng, Eurovision fan favorite Lene Alexander, and long ago Idol contestant Gaute Ormåsen (as well as the less well-known but still recognizable to international pop fans Elisabeth Carew of several pleasant contemporary R&B-pop songs). Songs by Maria and Keep of the Castle, a hard rock group whose entry is nowhere near as good as Wig Wam's "In [...]

Above : They're pretty. Donkeyboy is a new Norwegian band who have been killing it lately over in their home country - their debut single Ambitions remained atop the Norwegian charts for 12 weeks, only to be replaced by their second single, Sometimes. They're debut album "Caught In A Life" dropped a few weeks ago in the UK, and we just got our hands on it the other day - based upon our first few listens, it's absolutely fantastic. These guys have perfected breezy Scandinavian pop, & infused it with an 80's [...]

Pop, rock and electronica...all thrown together to collectively amount to one of the most overlooked and easily digestible albums of the year. That, in a few words, sums up the rise of Norway's Donkeyboy . The Donkeyboy quintet is fronted by brothers Cato and Kent, who write and share lead vocal duties on almost all of the band's fresh, melody driven and 80s-inspired songs. The siblings are joined by Thomas, Peter and Alexander, who take care of drums, guitar and bass duties. Formed in 2005 the band are now [...]

Addled - Where am I? Gucci Vump - Sha! Shtil! (Sticky Stockholm remix) [...]
