Because of the van having a tape player there is actually a point to making these bloody things now, so we got hammered and listened to records all night (again), only this time I recorded them all onto a C-90! Clouded in mystery is Donny Hue's new track "Steps" off Free Sides . It is filled with pop sensibilities yet is shrouded in psychedelic production, giving the song and the band those added... err, colors. "Steps", while pop-centric, is not necessarily a super upbeat song. It has echoing guitars masked with a lightly distorted reverb, and the percussion is consistent but downplayed. The new album, Letter From New Virginia , was recorded in an old barn in the middle of Luray, VA. I haven't gotten the chance to hear the new album yet, but I just found this B-side from the album that they are giving away for free. Don't judge this song, just because it didn't make the cut.
