Stream: Don't Wait Animate - "OU.CD" EP

I suppose you could call Don't Wait Animate (a.k.a. "DWA") a trip hop or dubstep band, but since I generally hate those genres-and I really enjoyed their latest EP, Overcast Up Concrete Down, I'm not going to classify them as anything other than Indie. The 5-member band from England sounds a little bit like Bloc Party used to (when BP was still good), but without the punky edge. Maybe if Bloc Party covered Unkle. Or were produced by Four Tet. The vocals and music combine with a sense of urgency and danger-desperate passion. These [...]
This post owes a hell of a lot to Soulwax, who made it acceptable for indie kids to listen to electro/dance. Since then we've had a whole raft of remixes taking indie tracks in that direction. There's been so many that's I can't even scratch at the surface of the genre. The six vitamins I'm going to give you here are just some of my recent favorites, because there's so many good vitamins to pick from. We're sure you already have the disc and have been playing it since January, but if not, the US release of Delphic's debut, Acolyte, is coming to stateside on June 29 via Dangerbird Records. You can pre-order the excellent album...

Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin' and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole. I was up late with a friend of mine finishing up a short film - its pretty arty and its not [...]

Coin Operated Boy is back! The Dirty Disco is back! Don't Wait Animate is on stage! Who is Don't Wait Animate? Let's call them DWA and say that the electro-indie-group from London drops the original for the following two remixes by COB and DD! Short cut alert. Mp3: Don't Wait Animate - 6174 (Coin Operated Boy Remix) Mp3: Don't Wait Animate - 6174 (The Dirty Disco Remix)

Don't Wait Animate are here with a bang. A band formed from the night 'Plastic People' in London, the band seem to have that perfect blend of crossover appeal to us electronic bummers. Their debut single '6174' has had the remix treatment from the biggest electro bummer I know (luckily I know him personally so I can get away with calling him that, kinda) Coin Operated Boy ! We haven't seen any blog action from C.O.B in ages have we? It's good to see him back and it's even better see him [...]
We posted about Don't Wait Animate a while back , their post-Nu-Rave Indie-Dub-Electro thing is pretty unique. A jagged inner city mash-up of styles and influences. The London 5 piece have dropped by the electronic rumors Inbox to big up a couple of reMixes of their début single, '6174'. The Dirty Disco deliver something special, completely deconstructing the track and building it back up into a dancefloor ElectroPop smash with some heavy heavy beats and more than a couple of nods to Dubstep as does Coin Operated Boy 's 8-bit [...]

MP3: Don't Wait [...]

lastnightsparty I think someone started something big because I'm starting to see an influx of mash-ups on Hype Machine, like honestly one out of two songs being a mash-up of sorts. It's actually because this is an inbox update and it seems I receive no mash-ups but rather more remixes via email. Whatever. Starting off with The Dirty Disco remix of Don't Wait Animate 6174 . The track has a great sound to it, I think it's swaying more towards mainstream techno pop but that doesn't matter, [...]

words: Steven Serrao Gutierrez top image Indie-dub fusion group Don't Wait Animate have been rewarding fans with regular examples of their interpretation of dubstep that has evolved from a lighter indie rock band sound. The style has an emphasis on live production and is clearly directed from the darker elements of electronic music. '6174' is a gloomy stance on debt and oppression, the repercussion is a single that draws from the energetic plucked guitars commonly found [...]

Something a little different again, this time in the shape of Don't Wait Animate , a new, post-Nu-Rave, Indie-Electro act from East London. Seemingly carving out a new genre all of their own they are kinda' like Hadouken! with less shouting and more songs, and more influenced by Dubstep rather than The Prodigy. Rimshot Dub beats and noisy electronics provide a base for jagged guitars and socially aware vocals in their forthcoming single "6174" released in April on Barhouse Records. [...]

Delphic 's much anticipated release of Acolyte came earlier this week and critics have jumped on the wagon to do what they do best. Criticize. We heard the album and loved bits & pieces of it, especially the singles from 092 but we shall not comment further as we have not spent a decent amount of time on it to give fair opinion. What we intend to do today is acquaint you with a few remixes of their hit track " Doubt ", which has [...]
Several very exciting songs have surfaced in the last few days - here's a rave run-through from a frothinh London blogger: Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness (Feat. Ratatat & MGMT) My chum Adrian and I were discussing in a rare quiet moment at Bestival a few weeks back that it's hard to see where hip hop can go; it [...]
