I know it's Thom Yorke and he's a genius and all, but his remix of Doom's EPIC "Gazzillion Ear" is a FAIL. It's everything I don't want it to be. It's boring, it's ambient, it's pretentious. It basically takes out everything that was cool about the song (sans vocals) and replaces it with weird Thom Yorkian stuff. But here it is, eat it up. Radioheads Thom Yorke may not fuck with Kanye West or Miley Cyrus, but he does dig hip-hops mask avenger MF Doom . He remixes "Gazillion Earr" off Doom latest Born Like This . Spotted at gorillavsbear via Passion of the Weiss . MF Doom - "Gazzillion Ear" (Thom York Remix)" -mp3
"Born like this / Into this / As the chalk faces smile / As Mrs Death laughs / As the elevators break / As political landscapes dissolve." ( 'Cellz' , Born Like This , 2009) Born Like This is another brilliant DOOM album, dispensing with the MF and "all big letters but it isn't no acronym" this time around and pairing up a raspier Daniel Dumile up with Ghostface, Raekwon, Dilla beats and more cartoon samples. That's flawless enough for me. As an added [...]

For real, this remix is a big disappointment to me. Don't know what Thom Yorke was thinking. Gazzillionaire was already a great track with excellent production. When making a remix, I think it's important to keep the emcee in mind. This track sounds like it was produced for, like, Radiohead or something. [ img via ] Initially, the combination of the Radiohead frontman and the metal-faced villain, seems incongruous. Upon closer examination, it's perfectly natural: two insular, brooding weirdos, whose music reflects a constant, centrifugal tension with the world around them. [ via ] It can't be easy being Thom Yorke . You're one of the most desired men on the planet by some of the most interesting men and women. Your hair never quite looks the way you want it to. You're pasty and English but Spank Rock and [...]

Note: This the latest release from veteran rapper Daniel Dumile, known best as MF Doom. No stranger to operating under an alias (he's gone by Zevlove X and Victor Vaughn in the past, and was one half of Madvillain and Danger Doom), there's been unconfirmed speculation that he actually changed his stage name for legal reasons this time around...

Nowhere near as good as the Dilla-produced, Moroder-sampling original (which is one of the best hip-hop tracks of the year), but still, it's Thom Yorke remixing DOOM. Grab the mp3 here . *************

Image via Metal Faced On paper, the combination of the Radiohead frontman and the metal-faced villain, seems incongruous. Upon closer examination, it's perfectly natural: two insular, brooding weirdos, whose music reflects a constant, centrifugal tension with the world around them. Consequently, Yorke's "Gazzilion Ear" remix manages to make Doom sound even more warped and eccentric than usual. Though, I'm guessing that the original paranoid android voted for Obama. The music world has recognized how great an artist Mr. Thom Yorke is, but there are certain instances where he (or his band Radiohead) will go out on a limb and do something special....like now. Yorke has remixed one of my favorite MCs MF DOOM or simply DOOM as he is now called. The track is called "Gazzillion Ears" and the remix has Yorke's style written all over it. It's also a longer song with a lengthier verse in it as opposed to many of the new DOOM tracks I've heard so far. All in all it's a winner. Take [...]

There is no shortage of cynicism during an era as bleak as this one, and no one spills it quite like rapper/producer MF DOOM. The famously masked artist has changed his name again; it's just DOOM now, and like the metal mask he performs under, the pseudonym is a nod to Marvel Comics baddie Dr. Doom. DOOM has always grunted nonsensical rhymes over shadowy beats, and this shtick has propelled him to the forefront of indie rap. He's quickly become a poster child for Cartoon Network's [adult swim], and his production has [...]

SACH all capitals, no trick spelling. Daniel Dumile albums aren't supposed to be comforting; they're supposed to be disturbing, awkward, and a mindfuck to all but the most dedicated, blunt-smoking, mind-warped, boom-bap rap fans. Maybe it was the corny Adult Swim tie in (we forgive you DOOM), maybe it was the undeniably classic Madlib collabo, maybe it was familiarity, but at some point in the past few years the man formerly known as Metal Face became more teddy bear than grizzly, less super villain than super emcee. DOWNLOAD : "Gazzillion Ear (Thom Yorke Remix)" by DOOM Thanks to his previous statemen t about his mind fuckery with the audience as a half-assed explanation of his no shows, I don't think I would attempt to see Doom again. Twice I've tried and twice he was a no show. Still a fan though. Yup. I really love the original track; Thom Yorke's version is what you expect it to be with its eerie vibe and with Doom spitting so fast that it comes [...]
E poi [...]

TONS of new releases this week to talk about. First off I've been listening to The Decemberists ' new album, Hazards of Love and so far...it's...uhh...okay? I seriously need to spin this a few more times to get a real opinion about it, but it doesn't suck. It's obviously no Castaways & Cutouts , but it's a grower. Catch The Decemberists on tour this spring here . In addition to the plethora of new releases are Dan Deacon's wonderfully bizarre masterpiece, Bromst [...]
Words By K1NG I was planning on writing a detailed review of DOOM's new album Born Like This , while feeding you lines that could easily be picked apart once transcribed. Instead Mos Def did it for me. While these lines that he is spitting on this video are not off of his new album, they are exactly the kinds one finds upon listening to the new album, whether it's the first time you throw it on or the 40th. A lot of debate goes on in these here internet boards [...]
