I'm going to be introducing a new feature for Thursdays. We'll call it the Triple Track, and will be shooting you three MP3s from bands that we've heard of over the past week or so. Could be from anywhere in the country and of any genre. These are just three quick things worth checking out every Thursday afternoon. Enjoy! ______________________________ ________ Dosh is going to be hitting the road in January and February in support of his fabulous record, The Lost Take [...]

our tree: soon to be star'd Before they started selling trees on street corners around town, we had one FedEx'd from a farm in Vermont. Think I'm kidding? Check out Sharon cutting open the box . It's actually the best tree I've seen anywhere and the total cost was just about the same as finding one on the street. Plus, we didn't have to lug the thing 6 blocks in the freezing cold. It's starting to feel nice around the city. Sure, it's cold. But you forget [...]

Yet another little acoustic list. This one is strange little list, oddly noble yet moody. It comes with Ensembles layered electronica but with prominent Chan Marshal's voice, very spacey and futuristic. It makes the whole list moody. Dosh is always ever so intricate with his drum piece. Jason Molina opening is from his new solo CD too. It's highly recommend as usual. ... etc etc. I guess lyric wise this is also a near holiday list, if not a really trippy late afternoon list. enjoy. You know, just the other day, I was thinking it'd be great to hear someone fuse experimental jazz, prog rock, and electropop, and then along comes Dosh with an album that does exactly that. The closest comparison I can come...

I come in contact with a lot of music that is so "out there" that it doesn't quite fit the mold of the usual stuff that I would normally take the time to discuss here. I literally have stacks upon stacks of cds that I feel fall into this category of "just a little weird/abstract/different." I wasn't sure if I would ever place much of this material here, just because I didn't know how to fit it in. Solution: Weird Music Wednesday. Every Wednesday, or perhaps every other Wednesday, I'll put the [...]
This was one of the most uninspiring shows I've ever seen. When I saw Weezer, I wanted to buy a guitar and play songs in my garage. When I saw The Strokes, I wanted to buy Cons and wear a leather jacket. When I saw The Arcade Fire, I wanted to join a band with all my friends and shout in unison. But when I saw Dosh this past Friday night at Alchemize , I didn't want to do anthing. Because with Weezer, Strokes, and Arcade Fire, I could do the things they did [...]

First of all I wish to thank reader Oscar for allowing us to host our files for a temporary time while we're homeless. As this is a loan and I'm very afraid of exhausting Oscar's bandwith I need to ask of you readers not to hotlink the files on other page and download the files without streaming. Oscar writes some excellent podcasts on the alt stream radio, Enfiltro . Y sigo dandote las gracias, Oscar. [...]

mp3: Um, Circles and Squares website: http://www.doshfamily.com Due to the fact it's now morning rather than night, I'll keep this short. One of my favourite things at the moment is the new Dosh album out on Anticon on October 17. Bustling along with its atmospheric uptempo arpeggios, percussion and soothing melodies, it just flies by. I'm going to be coming back to this closer to release time, as I like it more and more each day. I just wanted to get this mp3 in as a [...]

It's been an eventful week (getting free tickets to the Flaming Lips show, then subsequently discovering my car being broken into during the show, and finally witnessing the most physical college football game I've ever seen in person). This week I had a challenge... recover over 200 cds that had been stolen from me somehow. I doubt I will, so this week's playlist required some work to get it up to par. This week's show features some of my favorite discoveries of the year. Hopefully you'll find something you like. Tune into the show tonight from 10 - 11:30 (shorter [...]

You may have heard of Dosh because he has been touring with Andrew Bird this summer. He also has been working on Bird's new album and vice versa. When I saw Andrew Bird at Summerfest, he had Dosh with him and the new sound that he was making made me really psyched for his new album. I looked up Dosh online to see what kind of stuff he does and I really liked it. I have a song from Dosh's new album which features some of Andrew Bird's violin in there. It's pretty solid. You should listen to it. [...]

With his completely spontaneous performances, improvisation and live multilayered looping, Martin Dosh proves to be an exceptional performer. Hailing from the Anticon family among names like 13 & God, Why? and cLOUDDEAD, Dosh's electronic music has a unique ambient character which is spawned from his keyboard, sampler, small drum kit and handful of effect pedals. Martin Dosh embodies the definition of a one-man show. After having just finished up another North American tour with Andrew Bird, the two are jumping the pond to play some dates together in Europe. Tour Dates: [...]
