Destroid is the dubstep equivalent of GWAR. Comprised by hyperbass producers Excision and Downlink with support on drums from KJ Sawka (formerly of Pendulum), the project has put much greater emphasis on their backstory and attire than their tunes. The Megatron-esque voice of "Raise Your Fist", the lead track on their aptly-titled debut LP, The Invasion, describes their GWAR-meets- Transformers creation myth. Adding limited substance to a lyric-less album, aside from explaining why it's littered with the amplified commotion of a NASCAR garage, the members of Destroid have come to Earth to save us from our leaders. And then possibly leave Earth a [...]
When Excision released his 2012 Shambhala mix to the world, he also let everyone in on one of the biggest secrets in bass music. That day we learned of the bass music super group of Excision, Downlink and KJ Sawka known as Destroid. The marketing and promotion for Destroid has been pretty impressive as [...]

In a magnificent attempt to rebrand, think outside the box and try something completely new and different, bass heads and electronic musicians collide to form the greatest thing since perhaps Atoms For Peace. Made up of Canadian legend bass music creators Excision and Downlink and one other, the new group takes the name DESTROID , a fitting name given the genre mash and obliteration of our sound system. However it is the third group member that makes this newly found glory so very special. KJ Swaka of the infamous Pendulum has joined hands with the [...]

Kicking it with XXYYXX , Mister Lies , and Pink Noise Ordinance this weekend was more than just an honor; it was downright amazing. These guys are at the very front of the underground future scene, spearheading the free-hand sampling game with their strange sounds and wonky song structure. When you get to see such talent up close and personal, it really inspires you. It shows you that going with what sounds good to YOU is what really matters. Don't be afraid to just toss around a bell, slap a vocoder on a bongo, or reverb [...]

Aggressive dubstep producers Excision and Downlink have joined forces with drummer KJ Sawka to form the group DESTROID. Both producers are known for their hard-hitting industrial sounds and KJ Sawka- former drummer of the electronic rock band Pendulum- adds the live instrumental element. The group has been in the works since 2009 and after Excision 's sold out X Tour this year, the trio decided to unveil their new dubstep powers. This new experiment delivers a custom sound with brutal bass and their latest creation is "Crusaders." Starting out with rushing guitar chords, the trio [...]
OK bass fans here is the third installment from dubstep super group Destroid. The out-of-this-world trio of Excision, Downlink, and KJ Sawka. have gone beyond the decks with pounding new tunes. When dubstep hit the US mainstream Djs became a dime a dozen, these leaders of bass created their own army of womp. With young ravers across the nation fiending for the drop these guys have teamed up to give it to them. Going on stage these three incorporate live drums and more to revolutionize the new-age rock star. Just getting started, their first tracks have been a [...]
A couple weeks ago we finally got to hear Excision's Shambhala 2012 and along with the release of that epic mix was the unveiling of Destroid; the dubstep all-star group of Excision, Downlink and drummer of now-defunct Pendulum KJ Sawka. For this track, the collaboration has included my favourite producer across any genre, Space Laces. [...]

It's about to get down out in Colorado this weekend! If you don't know what Red Rocks is, and what it's like to see a show there, you're missing out. Not only is the best venue in the nation to see a concert, but it's also one of the most devastating lineups those red rocks have seen. Let's just hope the epic bass doesn't send down a rock slide. Who's playing this incredible evening of dubstep delight? Well...there's Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, Datsik, Downlink, and Dirtyloud. Regardless of how many DJ's are playing that start with a D, [...]

The weekend has come and gone, and now your deep into your weekly grind. Never fear, Wobble Wednesday is back with more of your favorite face melting bass drops to help you make the most of your mundane lifestyle. Let me introduce myself, my name is Logan and I’ll be guiding you along through the many variations of bass music that we see these days, new and old. I wanted to turn the Wobble Wednesday feature into more than just a section for dubstep. Incorporating Drum & Bass and Moombahton is something that I feel is a perfect [...]

Downlink's been on a tear recently, last week he released a drum & bass track called Triphekta which peaked at #2 on the Beatport Drum & Bass Charts . Now the Kelowna, BC native is back with Tiger, a down tempo 110bpm dubstep track with everything that you love from Downlink. It has the robotic wobbles, but has a hip-hop beat to give the track some serious swagger. It seems out of Excision, Datsik and himself, he's the only producer that hasn't phased out of the robotic/metallic dubstep sound which is perfectly fine by me because I'm a huge [...]
Well, we don't see any mentions of Daft Punk on this here press release we just received about the Spring Awakening Festival, Chicago's first all-untz affair set for the field outside of Soldier Field on June 16th and 17th, but the rumor we had up about Skrillex, Laidback Luke and Afrojack proved true. We had [...]
