Xu Xu Fang like pictures of horses better than pictures of people and will release their new EP Seven Days Now this week. Founder Bobby Tamkin speaks to Scott Schultz about radio drama, fog machines and stoned Oklahomans who like Gossip Girl .

Seems it's that time of year when there's so much new music being released by new bands as well as established ones. We start with the debut studio album by Hill Country Revue, Make A Move, 10 tracks of raw blues and classic southern rock recorded at Jim Dickinson's famed Zebra Ranch Studio as well as at Young Avenue Sound in Memphis. [New L.A. sounds for your ears, and your iTunes ...] Links are an L.A. quartet with a Robbie and Robby (an Arnett and Barnett, go figure), and a passion for simmering, '70s-styled blues rock, which they bring to a boil on their debut EP, "Tip Your Jester" (released in March). Singer-guitarist Arnett yowls like a higher-register (and mercifully less forced) Caleb Followill behind bassist Barnett and drummer Curtis Marrero's sharp beats and lead guitarist Eric Frank's tasteful licks. Good [...]

[Happy birthday to Yoko Ono, 76 years young. Not that she isn't getting birthday greetings from all over ...] Mystery Jets , the Syd Barrett-worshiping, 1980s-channeling quintet from London, are newly aligned with Rough Trade Records. Their "Twenty One" [video for "Half in Love With Elizabeth," above] was No. 8 on NME's top albums of 2008, though it was barely a blip on anybody's radar here, except maybe the Anglophiles who will visit Spaceland tonight for Club NME. ... This is it. The last First Friday of the year and the last show we're helping with of '07. It's the holiday season and there's nothing like spending some time with friends and listening to great bands at T's. And, as always with T's shows in December, if you see someone running around with a mistletoe on their belt buckle please don't call the cops. We need Arlo to do sound. December 7, 2007
