I can't remember how I chanced upon this one, looked in my promos inbox for no avail so I must have found this 3 song EP on a blog or something. NYC's Dream Band makes moody reverb drenched post-rock that's quite classic in its presentation. Although I'm not a big fan of melodic post-rock once in a while well crafted songs like the title track of the EP 'Dad in the Black Forest' get my attention. Give these guys a spin, the EP is free download on bandcamp. Bandcamp [...]

Watts // Debut EP So, I wasn't able to go to SXSW. Boohoo. But I hear everyone down there is having a blast (even without my presence). And on top of that, I'm sick. Been sick for three weeks. How pathetic can one guy get? Whatever, here's something to cheer me up (and maybe you too). If you love Dream Band as much as I do, this should be welcome news for you. Their singer/guitarist Sean March recently put out an EP under his side project Watts . Now [...]

~ mediafired - "Cinderella's Big Score" ~ A weird, possibly frustrating song for some but I love it (although it wouldn't hurt shaving off a minute or two at the end). It samples bits of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" (a personal favorite of mine) which it warps and twists around, making it sound like a bunch of drunken ghosts having a gathering. No, really. Completely awesome. So of course I found it via BEKO DSL . ~ Dream Band - "Mr Shaking And Pills To Judge" ~ [...]

Dream Band // Flag EP My pals in Dream Band just let me know that they debuted a new EP on their bandcamp called Flag. Like their previous EP, it's just three songs in length, but despite this short tracklist the EP feels surprisingly full. These guys have a pretty classic sound. They don't do anything extreme of genre-bending, instead they put everything into their songwriting. These songs are not just thrown together, they are slaved over, that much is obvious when you listen to them. [...]

Why, yes! It's yet another compilation recommendation post! This time from Crash Avenue and I'll let them tell you all about it: "This month's art showcases a loose holiday theme, some love for one of our favorite blogs, I Guess I'm Floating, and a bit of a "Black Hole Sun"-style treatment of the mighty Paula Deen. The tracks include an exclusive home recording of Cheyenne Marie Mize covering PJ Harvey, as well as Emily Reo covering Neil Young, a nice selection from Jeans Wilder, two bands to know from RVA, and [...]

Dream Band = Mr. Shaking And Pills To Judge Dream Band have one of the most pleasurable sounds I've heard in a long time. They just self released a three song EP on bandcamp . And all three songs are as momentous and bold as the next. No surprise they hail from the teeming talent metropolis that is Brooklyn. Really hope to hear more from these peeps. Follow 'em up on the tumblrs [...]

Dream Band: Mr. Shaking and Pills To Judge Considering their name, you'd be forgiven to think that Brooklyn's Dream Band play a blend of synth/dream-pop/chillwave à la Washed Out or Toro y Moi. While these guys are "chill" in the truest sense of the word, they choose to swap out the 80's kitsch and sun-kissed vibes for some good old fashioned rock. "Mr. Shaking and the Pills to Judge" is the leading track off their s/t EP (up on [...]
