If you jump straight for No. 1 (SPOILER IT'S KAPUTT ), I'll understand, but you might enjoy some reading. 35. Dream Diary – You Are the Beat The upbeat twee group was one of the only true discoveries I made at SXSW, though like the Pains [...]

This video is for the single EL LISSITZKY from Brooklyn band Dream Diary's debut album YOU ARE THE BEAT out now on Kanine Records . It is also: PRETTY MUCH THE MOST ADORABLE.
An adorable-as-expected take on one of the best songs from Dream Diary's fine twee-pop debut. Birthdays! Previously : Review: Dream Diary - You Are the Beat

Gentle Brooklyn lo-fi-shoegaze-poppers Dream Diary just released this home made video of their single "El Lissitzky", enjoy!

As mentioned in an earlier blog, both Dream Diary and Ravens & Chimes canceled tonight's Deli show at Cameo both for health reasons. After a frantic search for a NYC psych rock band available to cover the "hole" we found Night Manager through the Translations peeps. We were immediately struck by their sound, which combines arious melodies reminiscent of The Beach Boys with a super distorted and lo-fi recording style, filled with trashy guitars and a discreet but harmonically rich guitar work. Come enjoy their joyful and somewhat moody lo-fi tonight - they'll be playing at 9.30 at [...]

If all you every really wanted was a minimal techno remix of a track by Dinowalrus , you no longer have to wait because Pete just sent this over. Listen. Downloadable: BEAD (minimal techno mix) (mp3) Will the whole of % get the same treatment? Probably not, but that would be pretty sweet if it did. Oh, and make sure you check out the band in it's latest configuration in a live setting. Upcoming NYC Shows: May 21 @ Brooklyn Bowl [...]

It may be a windy ten degrees on these New York City streets, but if you're plugged into Dream Diary , your heart is in the warm sunshine. Their track, "Something Tells Her" belongs among the dream-pop elite the likes of The Clientele, Acid House Kings and Sweden's Labrador records. The track features an upbeat, head-bobbing melody flourished with shimmering guitar and Jacob Sloan's Morrisy-esque vocals, the New York Times even acknowledging their "Smiths-like tendencies." And the story of their formation is a sweet song in itself and could be the trailer of the next great [...]

The Lower East Side, NYC based Prospector (formerly Doppelganger) play a refreshing brand of rock and roll that is smart, riff-based and with a healthy dose of swagger. R. Francis (guitar), Ryan Oh-No (drums / vocals) and Joey Hamm (bass) seem to draw their inspiration from classic guitar bands of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Their debut EP "Get It Over With Already" is chock full of this vibe. - Read Dave Cromwell interview with the band here. Prospector, winner of The Deli's band of the month in October 2011, will be playing the Deli's NYC [...]

As seen on My Old Kentucky Blog , here is side one track one off the new Grooms LP, Prom . The album is set to be released via Kanine Records on July 12. Known as purveyors of the LOUDquietLOUD aesthetic, Grooms are mixing glitchy electronic, ambient, and classic pop sounds into the mix here. Listen. Downloadable: Tiger Trees (mp3) You can preorder Prom @ insound.com . Upcoming Show: June 17th @ Knitting Factory ( [...]

Nostalgia this, '80s that - Dream Diary's You are the Beat is the first recent record I've heard to actually sound like a half-remembered, sun-bleached cassette version of the Rainbow Brite theme song. (Which I YouTubed . It doesn't sound like this at all. Memory!) The band plays the kind of brisk twee established by acts like the Field Mice and Rocketship, all keyboard strings and electric chords jangling from a distance. While their forbears occasionally slipped into treble-heavy territory, there's no edge at all to Dream Diary: their clean guitars and orchestral [...]

Mind-expanding rockers, Dinowalrus have a new mp3 that is making the rounds on the internet. The guitar tone on this track feels like a melange of late-80s rock that just cascades into your ears. Can't wait to hear their follow up to their Kanine debut. Listen. Downloadable: Radical Man (mp3) Upcoming Show: May 26 @ Cameo w/ Dream Diary + Translations Editor's Note : They are playing this weekend with Titus Andronicus [...]
![Jeremy Jay: Dream Diary [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3357835_lg.jpg)
Jeremy Jay debuted on the scene in 2007 with singles for Airwalker and We Were There . I snagged both of those at the time, and I really enjoyed them. His debut LP, A Place Where We Could Go , too, was impressive. He then released a few more LPs and a few more singles, and that leads us to his fourth album, Dream Diary . Born and raised in California, Dream Diary has that state's sound - it's sunny, but it irks to get away from [...]
Dream Diary - Something Tells Her Ryan at Weekly Tape Deck has "been wearing out this record lately," and I can see why. A poppier Pains of Being Pure at Heart with similar love-loss Philadelphian roots and New York dreams. You Are the Best LP out on Kanine Records .
The first quarter of 2011 is closed and these are the albums we already can't live without. Oh, there's some free MP3s for you too!
I've been wearing this record out lately. Similar to the first two Pastels records.
Day 4 highlights from Little Dragon, The Hood Interent, Royal Bangs, The Seedy Seeds and more!

It's the weekend of SXSW. Maybe you're there, like Katie, soaking up the good music, having a lonestar and rubbing elbows with other music-lovers. But you might not be there, like Alyssa, who is instead about to run for the border, (literally.) Either way, the requests came in from several Steam Co readers, and their request was epic: GIVE ME SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST they said. And so it was. "Smith Westerns - Perfect in My Mind" "Ellie Goulding - Lights" "Lower Dens - Blue [...]

Het nieuwe album van Dream Diary heet You are the Beat. Het is verschenen bij Kanine Records . MP3: Dream Diary - El Lissitzky Dream Diary op Myspace [...]
