The internet seems to catch everything, right? A giant impenetrable web, in which every event of the most minimal consequence is caught, documented and consumed. But often the fast-paced indie-music blogosphere glances over records, EP's and new artists of all types. Salvageable but neglected sonic gems are left in the dust of the next buzz band and hybrid genre, without due recognition and coverage. Here's a young rap duo with a bright debut EP that seemed to fly by last year without due credit. The group is Dream Jefferson , and their album Punch Perm is fresh, fast [...]

The little bird in the artwork above may be a nod to the smaller nature of the EP but don't think for a second that these mini-albums aren't serious beasts. This is some Hitchcockian Birds business with ferocious and passionate music being delivered by some of the most exciting bands breaking out right now. It was certainly an exciting year for the often under-appreciated EP format. In the increasingly saturated music world I really enjoy a well crafted EP that leaves me reaching for the repeat button instead of checking to see how [...]
This year in music has been quite impressive. While 2010 gave us clear-cut, stand alone winners, it was much harder to determine which album was Top Ten worthy, let alone the best of 2011. Most sites have published their lists already, and while many albums appear on the same lists, the top ten varies greatly from list to list. Don't expect us to be any different. Well, this was a surprise. Who would've thought a hip-hop/electronic duo from Ottawa could deftly combine old skool rhymes, b-boy beats and Friday-night hipster danceability? Inexplicably, Dream Jefferson 's latest album, Punch Perm , manages to do just that. The seven track affair barely clocks in at 30 minutes (and can be downloaded in full over at their Bandcamp page), but that's still 30 minutes of a drunken, sing-a-long basement party. While the music's not as galvanizing as, say, Odd Future, Dream Jefferson are a hell of a lot of fun--which [...]

by teepoo Almost forgot to post this! But here is Dream Jefferson 's return with their sophomore EP titled Punch Perm which you can grab again for free off Bandcamp . The dance/party-rap group this time around added just the tiniest bit of pop to their tunes making these anthems even catchier than they used to be. Check out my favourite track from the set below called All Things Shining . It's the perfect example of indie-pop meets dance party rap! [...]

This is the first show after Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest . It was a mix of indie hip-hop to indie alternative rock. Also a EP release party for ex-Ottawa now Toronto's Dream Jefferson. Playing at the show were: KWES Crush Buildings Dream Jefferson [...]

rap like hell and make it sound like heaven ♫ Dream Jefferson - Robo Kill Beneath Disco Club Layla Fcuk Jay-Z and Kanye , the only new rap release you need to be worrying about is the new Dream Jefferson EP Punch Perm which went live to the world a few minutes ago. Dream Jefferson's Corboe and Owel trade verses with slick ferocity, not slipping an inch from their stellar debut EP Sasquatch Bury Their Dead . The music gets a bit more adventurous [...]
by teepoo What an awkwardly long week. Just started 3rd term of school and the schedule's pretty hectic but no worries I have tons of downtime and "bored in class time" to keep this blog updated. Now without further ramblings here's your weekly single song post chart based on YOUR views.

New song from Toronto duo Dream Jefferson , 'Westminster Abbey'. The track serves as part humourous, part serious response to the shenanigans that just took place across the Atlantic. Featuring sounds of nostalgic soaked electronica as the backdrop, the duo delivers another strong lyrical showing on the track. Dream Jefferson's next project Punch Perm is scheduled for a June release.
![[MP3] DREAM JEFFERSON are probably happy as Canadian clams that they aren't at WESTMINSTER ABBEY](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3401356_lg.jpg)
they dream to escape the villages ♫ Dream Jefferson - Westminster Abbey Royal Wedding, Will & Kate, blah blah blah. The ONLY redeeming factor I can find in all this is it enticed Dream Jefferson to squeeze out another track that I can rub on my ears. This tribute to lost chances with a future princess is a much smoother affair than their epic party-rap EP Sasquatch Bury Their Dead but still has their Grade A Canadian maple syrup flavored stamp all over it. So watch [...]

by teepoo Dream Jefferson are back with a single that is appropriately released (just look at the title) just in time for the royal wedding. It has nothing to do with the Royal Wedding, but a track with a pretty addictively catchy chorus. Westminster Abbey is also the first single off their upcoming EP titled Punch Perm which be released in the next couple of months. Haven't posted a rap track in a little while, but this is something to check out. [...]
![[Introducing] – Dream Jefferson](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3304590_lg.jpg)
I don't know anybody that doesn't like old school hip hop. The electro bounce, the fun lyrics, there is just something about Sugarhill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash etc that warms the cockles and gets dancefloors moving. That's why I often wonder why there isn't more contemporary hip hop that overtly references those early days of the genre. We get plenty roots blues musicians and folk groups obsessed with the authenticity of their sound, so why not more early hip hop outfits? Dream Jefferson don't exactly fit that mould, but they certainly have an affinity for Bambaataa's electro [...]

Follow SpacePack on Twitter! These dudes write clever emails. End post. Jokes though, in addition to mastering internet communication (probably the best submission email I've ever received) the duo of Dream Jefferson are also mastering their musical craft one polished track after another. Composed of Corboe and Owel Five, the Toronto duo aims to produces what they describe as Conscious-Electro-Party-Rap for the masses. With a couple of their instrumental tracks having been used on Aux.TV's "Something New" and playing regularly at Toronto venues such as Rancho Relaxo and El Mocambo, [...]

cause we're all dying at some point, i can't afford to restart, i only got one coin ♫ Dream Jefferson - Vampyroteuthis Dream Jefferson are a Toronto duo who deal in the illicit street art they call "Canadian-Electro-Party- Rap." If that sounds like the worst ever then you need to slow your roll and take that one word at a time. Aw fuck it, no time for reading when jams like this are pumping through my headphone, making me want to mount this office desk and raise the damn roof! Producer and lyricist Corboe [...]

by teepoo Dream Jefferson is Ottawa natives Corboe and Owl Five who are now residing in Toronto. They're a genre breaking rap duo. I think of it more as if LCD Soundsystem or Chromeo suddenly decided to add rap to their tunes, this is sort of what you would get. Their latest album Sasquath Burry Their Dead is available for free download on their Bandcamp . It's a collection of rapid-fire lyrics on top of some great beats and electronic synths. They remind me of [...]
