Jim Lockey at The Castle Hotel, Manchester (12/02/13) © 2013 Hannah Neild Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun are quickly becoming one of the hottest properties in the UK and if, their albums, 'Atlases' and 'Death' didn't convince you of that then their live show will. Having seen them multiple times already this year, I can tell you it never gets old and that these guys are destined for bigger venues than the back rooms of pubs and dark converted cellars. Though they were last performing in front of thousands every night on tour [...]
Filed under: Exclusive , Movies "GOODBYE HORSES" FROM "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS" Okay, forget all that stuff about irony. In a scene featuring a serial killer getting dolled up as a prospective victim stands trapped in his well, this echo-y one-hit wonder by Q Lazzarus just sounds creepy. Lazzarus first met director Jonathan Demme when he entered her cab, which was playing a tape of her music. The 1988 song has something to do with Hindu philosophy, but the thing we all [...]
Crowns debut new single from forthcoming album. Crowns have played with the likes of Dropkick Murphys . The Irish punk rock charm of that band has seemingly rubbed off on the band and can be heard in their new single, "Four Walls" . The track is taken from [...]

Sasquatch! 2013 (May 24-27, 2013) The lineup for the 2013 Sasquatch! Music Festival (May 24-27, 2013) dropped this morning/last night with a bomb. Headliners for this year’s festival include: Mumford & Sons, The Postal Service, The xx, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Vampire Weekend . For my money, this is a pretty great looking festival lineup. (If I were a betting man, I'd say this one will sell out even faster than any year's past.) Four day Sasquatch Festival passes go on sale to the general public on Feb [...]

Festival line-up announcement season is in full swing, reminding us that the cold will soon let up and we'll be able to rock out to our favorite music in the sunshine. Every year, we rave about how incredible Sasquatch! Festival is, with the breathtaking views of The Gorge in Washington and the laid back vibes you get camping with mostly Northwesterners and Canadians (they are SO nice). This year is no different. The Postal Service continue their tour of festivals with a headlining gig this year, joining Mumford [...]

Every Memorial Day, I think about a flying to Portland and making the drive to Washington for Sasquatch. I haven't been this "jazzed" about a festival lineup in quite some time due to the amount of music festivals making the rounds. It's probably the most complete lineup (headliners not included) and the Postal Service is near the top. SASQUATCH! At the beginning of the year, I gave Album Of The Week to Signed And Sealed In Blood , the latest from the reliably hammerheaded Boston bagpipe-punk crew Dropkick Murphys. It's an exceedingly, gratifyingly simplistic album, and its most simplistic song is the opener, a gang-shout battering ram called "The Boys Are Back." The song's video has about as direct a concept as it needs: The band playing in a boxing ring, in a Boston gym, while fired-up punks surround them. There's really nothing about this that I don't like. Mark Higgins directs; watch it [...]

The Indiecision Five at 5 is our attempt at sharing our musical tastes with you, and showcasing music from around the world. Each day at 5pm sharp, one NH7 writer or staffer will bring you five songs he/she is listening to on the day. This Friday, space cowboy Siddhant Mehta makes a playlist out of whims, fancies and other superfluous things. 1.
