Duncan Sheik was one of the "Sheikiest" balladeers of the nineties. His mega hit, 'Barely Breathing,' moved millions of copies and provided millions more young ladies with romantic inspiration. 'She Runs Away' never escaped the shadow of 'Barely Breathing' on Duncan's self-titled disc , but it was nonetheless an enchanting groove. Soft strings interpose the chorus, while Sheik's pleading vocal hooks and steel guitar seal the deal. Take a trip to a time of pre- 9/11 bliss and watch the video to 'She Runs Away' below:

[ In this episode of The Hush Now 's Memos Tour Diary, fronter Noel Kelly offers his account through gritted teeth of a tour going haywire, with levels of strife that recall Sex Pistols' doomed January 1978 tour of the United States -- well, without the drugs, violence and John Lydon quitting at the end to form PiL. THN has been taking what has become the very long way around, touring a large swath of the U.S. en route to a hotly anticipated homecoming show Saturday at Precinct in Somerville, Mass. Author's Note: I am using the term "indie rock" as a means to categorize these lists. The artists represented in this list can fall under many genres. Greetings Autumn enthusiasts. Wade here again for another list of albums that I seem to play most in the fall. This time around I decided to go in a more indie rock direction. In the last list I created , I went for more popular albums, as bloggers often tend to whip out their hipster cocks when talking about music. They'll find the most esoteric bands they [...]

Eventually, she began venturing into Madison, Wisconsin to listen to and hang out with jazz musicians. In 2003 Holly Hafermann moved to Los Angeles and recorded a demo. She was signed as [...]
Duncan Sheik creates an unnecessary '80s covers albums, best listened to in segments within a various artists mix tape. Everyone loves a cover song. Ok, that's not entirely true, but for a performer there is no greater crowd-pleaser than playing a recognizable cover song in a different style -- most audiences will cheer louder when they're favorite artist, who they just dished out their hard earned cash to see, whips out a different rendition of a song by their other favorite artist. 1980s covers are particularly hot these days, especially considering the majority of...
Filed under: News , Exclusive Rob Loud, Getty Images Earlier this month, Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik released 'Covers 80s' which, as its title suggests, is a collection of cover songs from the 1980s. Mostly focusing on the synth-pop style that is so endemic of that decade, the track list includes selections from Depeche Mode , New Order , the Cure , Tears for Fears , Love & Rockets [...]

Versatile singer-songwriter and Broadway composer Duncan Sheik releases 'Covers 80s' a collection of British synthpop tunes that he loved as a teenager.
They say if you remember the '80s that you really weren't there. (No wait, that was Woodstock. Sorry.) Anyway, Duncan Sheik certainly recalls the '80s. His new record, Covers 80s (out June 7 via Sneaky/MRI), is just what it sounds like. On it, the Grammy and Tony winner takes on 12 songs from the decade, [...]

I'm a sucker for anything Joy Division/New Order related. In the last couple of weeks, two New Order covers have made their way to my inbox. The first comes from autoKratz , a duo that probably would've found their way on the "Trainspotting" soundtrack or "Amp" MTV compilation. They're supporting their second album, 'Self Help for Beginners," out on Bad Life/!K7 on 20th June. The second comes from Duncan Sheik. I hadn't heard or seen anything from him in a minute, but the mustachioed troubadour has put his spin on a bunch of classic 802s [...]

Duncan Sheik is not exactly an artist that I would expect to release a covers record, and it's even more of a surprise that the subject of this release is the 80s. However, it seems that on June 7, Sheik will be taking on the songs of Depeche Mode , New Order , and The Cure for an album called Covers 80s . The full track list and tour dates for the singer-songwriter are posted after the jump. Covers 80s track list: [...]
