Following their massive release and subsequent re-release of Ta Det Lugnt , Dungen finally return with a new album of Acid Prog classics of future's past. Still mining the water's of 1976, Gustav Estes and crew have created an album that retains the same spirit as their last but turns down a bit of the urgency and ups the moody moments in between the searing guitar. The fret-ravaging blasts of Fuzz still lurk around every corner but this album seems a little less tumultuous, not that I can understand a word that comes out of his mouth, but there's [...]
Hopefully the first seven seconds of Dungen 's lead single from its upcoming album Tito Bitar is fairly indicative of the rest of what we are to hear. A raging drum roll introduction is hammered by some strange psychedelic Stooges riff which is then joined by some steady-handed piano all leading into the group's audiorgy. Though, if the first seven seconds, or even the song in its entirety isn't repeated over and over for an hour on the album, it may not be a bad thing. Dungen [...]
I just heard word from my pal Matt over at Ear Farm that Swedish phych-rockers Dungen (say it with me now.... "doo-ngen") will be releasing a new record called Tio Bitar on May 1st through Kemado Records . I just recently got into these guys, and although I can't understand a damn word they're saying, these four dudes from Sweden make some catchy, unique, rock n' roll music. If you're already a Dungen fan, then you're in for a treat... cuz Badical Beats has the tracklisting (with translations) and [...]
The new album from Dungen is set to come out on May 1st and Kemado Records has made available an excellent track from it. Enjoy. Listen: "Gör Det Nu"
Thank you KEMADO RECORDS! Check out the new DUNGEN song below. The new Dungen entitled "Tio Bitar" comes out on 5/1/07 on Kemado Records . Dungen - Gor Det Nu
We're a few months off from Swedish psych rockers Dungen's forthcoming Tio Bitar, and the first track from the record is a promising peek at what Gustav Ejstes has in store for this round. The first ten seconds alone are...

Wulfgang Hin stórgóða sveit Wulfgang, sem gerði það gott í fyrra með laginu Machinery, eru komnir með nýtt lag. Rise of the underground heitir það og lofar góðu um væntanlegt efni frá sveitinni, sem stefnir í að vera í dramatískari kanntinum ef eitthvað er að marka þetta nýja lag. Fyrsta platan, Wulfgang! Wulfgang! er víst enn í vinnslu og finnst manni biðin nú vera orðinn heldur löng eftir að hún komi út. Skellið ykkur á MySpace sveitarinnar til að hlíða á snilldina. Jóhann G Jóhann G. [...]

Dungen's new album, Tio Bitar , is dropping on May 1 in the States. A few songs have already leaked, and the rockers sound dense and heavy, more so than just about anything on the spectacular Ta Det Lugnt. As usual, the record is sung in Swedish, so we don't have to worry about how corny the lyrics may in fact be. (Just a hunch; "Ta Det Lugnt", after all, translates to "Take it easy".) None of these songs are as immediately gripping as "Panda" or "Festival", as they each have a bit more prog in their [...]

If one was asked about the current music scene in Sweden, I would expect the usual response to be in relation to witty folk-pop songwriters Jens Lekman and Julian Nation or adorable indie pop in the vein of The Concretes and The Cardigans. After all, ABBA basically defined the musical generalization of the county thirty years ago with their irresistible style. So, what about those epic psychedelic rock acts that most often generate from other countries such as the United States, France, and Japan? Well, surprisingly Sweden has their share of them as well. They just live behind the shadow [...]

I'd like to start by saying that being in the music business has totally de-mystified a lot of the magic that I felt about records and songs when I was a young lad. Being a kid, you just listen to stuff without any sort of prejudgment or cynicism and everything sounds new and wondrous. Lately, when I hear new bands I can't help but play the reference game; "they sound like so and so meets bowie meets so and so." I critique production styles; the drums sound like shit, but they're doing that on purpose to sound "authentic." I think [...]

I have never been to CBGB's, I never really had a reason to, in my mind the place was run as poorly as a popsicle stand in the sahara that has no freezers. I am a self proclaimed muscial nut, I buy lots of cds, I never stop listening, in college I would go to shows that were anywhere from 3 to 5 dollars at the door (they usually were terrible but anything was better than seeing that stupid cover band again). So it's not that I'm against going to see the acts that they tell [...]
