Whether you perceive daft Californian dance-punks !!! to be nothing but deranged practitioners of a funked up pastiche, busily recomposing bits and pieces of euphoric histories past – post-punk revivalism; those more accessible entries in the annals of Warp Records; hedonistic '90s raves and whatnot; their own, even – or saviours of some indefinable other altogether, they're ever jesters worth sparing a smirk or two. And with this, the year's first truly stimulatingly titled LP, Nic Offer et al. strive to reinsert the fun back into the somewhat restrained funk renaissance of recent times. [...]

It's not exactly La Grande Jatte, but I love Plaza San Martin anyway. I'll never forget about all the great friends I have in Buenos Aires, the delicious ensalada de fruta , the tree-saving bidets (How did I go so long without them?), or those ridiculously cheap Pilates classes -- which are included in the 380 pesos (or roughly US$45 at the black-market exchange rate) I just paid for a one-month membership at my old gym. But the joy of six other great things about BA had almost slipped my [...]

Chi Cheng (1970-2013) El pasado sábado 13 de abril falleció el bajista de los Deftones, Chi Cheng . A continuación compartimos algunas de las reacciones de gente como Gerard Way ( My Chemical Romance ), Hayley Williams ( Paramore ), Skrillex, [...]

Duran Duran keyboardist and ex-guitarist Warren Cuccurullo began a side-project in the mid-19902s while working on a Duran Duran album (the underrated and sadly much-maligned Medazzaland ). Vocalist Simon Le Bon had lyrical writer's block, so Rhodes and Cuccurullo started tinkering in the studio by themselves. They produced a mish-mash of samples and beats entitled Bored with Prozac and the Internet? , which was shelved once Le Bon was back in action. Having dusted off the tapes recently, Rhodes decided it sounded fairly current, despite the time delay. So, while Duran Duran is on break, he and Cuccurullo [...]

Relive the former Duran Duran side project TV Mania. TV Mania, the 90s project of Duran Duran’s keyboardist and founding member Nick Rhodes and former Duran guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, have released a video...
Duran Duran's renaissance man opens up.

There was worse to come. "New Moon on Monday" was our least favourite video of all. Everybody in the band hates it, particularly the dreadful scene at the end where we all dance together. Even today, I cringe and leave the room if anyone plays the video. We shot it just outside Paris on the third of January 1984, and we were all miserable because we hadn't had a long enough Christmas holiday. Our management had convinced us to theme it on the French Revolution, and it also had historic references to the French Resistance - but, to be honest, [...]

Photo by G. Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran Back in the 1990s, Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes and at the time Durannie Warren Cuccurullo recorded an album together as a soundtrack to a bizarre TV cyber soap opera about a family who give away their freedom to scientists in exchange for reality TV show fame. The duo called themselves TV Mania and the album was called "Bored With Prozac and the Internet?" The album was scrapped at the time and has recently been unearthed and will see [...]

Delphic: Collections - This week I decided to listen to something that would keep me awake, something lively, fun, and easy on the brain. Delphic ’s latest release, Collections , served as that avenue to my satisfaction, or at least it seemed to at the time. This is the trio’s second album release since Acolyte in 2009, and it feels as though they’re really starting to settle into their own sound. Throughout my sampling I could pick out little things from each song that reminded me of other artists [...]

Photo by G. Top: Duran Duran's "The Wedding Album" Bottom: "Pablo Honey" by Radiohead I don't know how this is possible, but it is. February 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of 2 great albums: Duran Duran's self titled album (later renamed "The Wedding Album" and Radiohead's debut record "Pablo Honey." Duran Duran's record featured world-wide smashes "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" and Radiohead's debut featured "Creep," a song the band have seemingly disowned as they've moved away from their indie rock roots and have [...]
Backtracking is our recurring look back at the pop music that shaped our lives. Friends may come and go, but we’ll be spinning our favorite albums forever. The first half of the 1980s was good to Duran Duran . The English group, relatively unknown in 1981, were one of the acts to ride the crest of the original MTV wave. They subsequently became pinup boys for the New Romantic movement as their exotic videos for "Hungry Like The Wolf," "Rio," "Save A Prayer" and "Union Of The Snake" translated into bona fide global chart [...]
Iconic pop band Duran Duran are no strangers to having their members split off and take part in side projects. But following the recording of Nick Rhodes and Warren Cuccurullo 's experimental TV Mania: Bored With Prozac And The Inernet? in 1996 — an album that featured electronic tracks mixed with samples of television dialog — the master tapes were misfiled in a storage facility, and were not recovered until 15 years later. Rhodes spoke with Idolator about the album finally seeing the light of day (it's out March 11 — [...]
"A few of your buddies, they sure look shady Blades are long, clenched tight in their fist Aimin' straight at your back And I don't think they'll miss" -- from "Back Stabbers" by The O'Jays You may not be able to choose your family, but thank God you can choose your friends, right? Well, that would depend on your skill as a judge of character. The option of picking friends might be a comforting privilege for those bogged down by familial discord and dysfunction, but sadly, the right to choose doesn't always yield [...]

It's no secret I'm a fan of singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler . While her solo work is exquisite, he choice of covers is always fantastic, showcased below by her selection of songs by Radiohead, Tom Petty and Duran Duran. Go here to download/listen to more covers.
We've compiled a list of some really creepy songs to celebrate Valentine's Day in style. This is the mixtape that you want to slip under the door of that special someone, but you don't really want them to know. 1. 'No Man Will Ever Love You, Like I Do' - The Raghu Dixit Project Yeah. This is that song. It sounds all good and awesome and about love and you're thinking "Hey, I'm going to sing this to the first person I fall in love with and then they'll think I'm [...]
