As this site has progressed over the year or so I am disappointed that some of the weekly smaller segments have completely dropped off. That's why in the midst of everything I need to do I bring to you all, this "catch up" mix of some of the single songs that have caught my ear in the last month or two. Tinyfolk-"Bubble Guns" A cover of a Hello Shark song, this song kind of picks up for Sic Semper Equis left off. It's marvelous and downtrodden; the darkest techno song ever. I [...]

" The Prairie Spies , were, once upon a time, called the Sharks. They formed in order to play a single show at Ronny's in February 2006. It was great fun - the bar's proprietor even roasted a pig! - and they decided to keep playing shows around the city. Three practice spaces later, they finally released their first EP, Bridget Quits, in October 2007. Since Bridget really had left the band, they decided to change their name to the Prairie Spies. They hunkered down in the basement of the house that three of them live in and recorded [...]

Most liberal, enlightened, grown-up Americans have become that way by working hard at it. Some have to slough off the cultural impositions of conservative and religious ideologies; I'm one of those children-of-a-child-of-the-six ties who fights to rid himself of ideas like, "root chakras" and, "meaningful coincidence." But sometimes I can't prevent myself from making superstitious connections: the 001 Collective , a contemporary collective of musicians who are distributing their music for free using powerful peer-to-peer technology, were meant to cross my path. And yours too, I reckon. It happened the day after [...]
Lately I've been spending all my time at 001collective.com . The 001 is a place where independent pop, noise, folk, and electronic artists can post their music for free, torrent-based download, which is then propagated across the larger bit torrent network, allowing these artists greater distribution than they could ever hope to gain in retail music stores, even independent ones. The guy architect of all this, and the man who penned the site's eloquent Declaration of Independence , is Luke Morris, the Louisianian boy wonder behind Secret Owl Society . So far, a [...]

+ Dustin and the Furniture:: No Secrets (yeni) + Dustin and the Furniture:: Myspace Comment Won't Save You + [...]

Jake from SLC toosed us a bunch of suggestions about a month ago, and Dustin and the Furniture on Oh! Map Records seemed like an interesting choice. According to the label website, this Georgian "sings songs about trees, birds, nothing, everything, and not knowing anything." And this he does so delicately as to be concerned that Dustin might break if these songs are downloaded too many times. Maybe he just needs someone to buy him lunch. Anyone got some change to throw into the open guitar case? [...]

#10 - Psapp - The Only Thing I Ever Wanted ( Domino ) Sforzandoci tramendamente potremmo pensare agli Stereolab di "Dots and Loops". Mp3: Hi "THE ONLY THING I EVER WANTED" review on INDIE FOR BUNNIES [...]
