Rolling Stone named 21 year old Louisiana born Dylan LeBlanc, as one of Music's Best Newcomers of 2010, who said "His haunted tenor veers between Southern soulman and honky-tonk crooner." Signed to Rough Trade records at 19, LeBlanc, who grew up in the legendary FAME studios (Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett) in Muscle Shoals Alabama, has already won over music fans in Europe. [ MP3 ] Dylan LeBlanc - If the Creek Don't Rise (feat. Emmylou Harris)

Yesterday started out with a mauled dead cat from a coyote on the lawn (not mine), traffic and ended 12 hours later when I finally got home from the office. Yuck! Today is shaping up to be a much better day to say the least. My last weekend of the summer is beginning and I am planning to enjoy it to the fullest. Beach, drinks and the long awaited release of the new Untitled Records design. Finally making it official in hopes this will get my ass in gear to put in the work to release it this [...]

It's all gone a bit mad at Barfly. There's people dancing like there's no tomorrow in the venue and the band have been finished for about 10 minutes. Grouplove , then, have inspired an atmosphere that just refuses to die. How? Well, with their debut EP being full of happy-go-lucky folk-pop with a bit of indie rock thrown in for good measure, it's plain to see that Grouplove have formed a winning combination to make people smile. Having been warmed up by what started out as a country set from [...]

I wandered into the Barfly for my first time ever at 8pm, expecting it to be rammed for Dylan LeBlanc 's set which was due to start in half an hour, with doors having been open for half an hour already. Instead I was greeted by about 10 people and an impending sense of dread about his set – I knew I was going to enjoy it but it kills me to see talented bands playing to an empty room. But it turns out my fears of another great artist playing to half a dozen people were unwarranted and [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Releases Rough Trade To be likened to Neil Young and Ray LaMontagne after only one album may be enough for some artists, but according to 19-year-old Dylan LeBlanc, "comments are going to come and they're going to go," so the only thing that should shape the music is the artist themself. "I don't really pay much attention to [comparisons] to be honest with [...]
Filed under: News , Video , Exclusive Gino DePinto, AOL Dylan LeBlanc , the soft-spoken troubadour from Shreveport, La., is a true Southern gentleman. He carries about him a quiet wit and polite manner while staying entirely coy. At just 21 years old, LeBlanc has already signed with Rough Trade Records and garnered all types of praise. The singer's debut album, 'Pauper's Field,' is steeped in southern-rock traditionalism, but reassesses the genre through [...]

I know I was not the only one who was blown away by Lissie's debut EP, Why You Runnin' , and follow up covers, like Gaga's " Bad Romance ". I also know I wasn't the only one a little disappointed by the excessive polish that came with her debut full length, Catching A Tiger . One average record isn't reason enough to walk away from an artist with this much natural talent - Lissie's voice is remarkable. If the rumors are [...]

A few months ago I complained that few albums released this year had grabbed me; suddenly there came an avalanche of quality albums that compensated for my disappointment in sets by some favourite artists that I had looked forward to. I have not been able to get on with the Ben Folds and Nick Hornby collaboration, much as I am a Folds fan and as I like Hornby's books. Joshua Radin's album is decent enough, but it did not attract the affection I had for his debut album. Jenny Lewis' collaboration with Jonathan Rice bored me. Even the [...]

After much consideration I have managed to put the top ten long-players that have rocked my world the most this year in list form. I'm going to get it written up before I decide to fine tune it any more! Where I have reviewed an album on the site I have included a link for your convenience. The one thing that surprised me compiling this list is that some of the records I waxed so lyrical about have ended up lower down the pile than I imagined. A couple in my top ten I have not even reviewed, not [...]

Not too long ago, a friend introduced me to the music of Dylan LeBlan and I've been listening to his debut album ever since. LeBlanc grew up hanging out amongst the session musicians at Fame Studios. By age 7, LeBlanc was already learning how to play a picking style on the guitar and began writing his own songs when his father bought him a guitar for his 11th birthday. When he turned 15 he began to hone his songwriting by playing live whenever he could, often traveling hundreds of miles on his own to play to just a handful of [...]

I am hesitant to mention that Dylan LeBlanc is 20 years old because I don't want it to seem like his music is amazing because he is 20 years old. LeBlanc's ear for melody, sense of songwriting, and timeless lyricism is pretty damn phenomenal no matter how old. His smoke and whiskey voice beckons Jim James, the band feels like The Cardinals- if you know me, you know this is my kind of music. While I'm not saying the songs are flawless- at time they tend to go a bit flat, but these areas LeBlanc is sure to [...]

Lissie In a somewhat packed house at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, the crowd resembled the crew I used to see at Rilo Kiley shows; young, light hearted indie-chicks with photographer boyfriends in tow. I honestly did not expect that at all. In fact the last time I saw Lissie was opening for City and Colour at the Fillmore and while she got a good response, I wasn't sure she was ready to headline the Great American Music Hall just yet.
