I've recently been informed that Seattle's dubious Dyme Def trio are verging on dropping their succulent sophomore effort, Sex Tape . "Ooo La La" © Mr. Strickland . As a teaser, the one-time Unsigned Hype-ers show their ability at ill communication with their forward-moving lead single " Do Something ," which could ride a genre-bending Beastie Boys-sample all the way to the FM waves. If tubular tunage isn't enough, they've tagged in the good folk @ TITS for an entire line of voluptuous and visually-appealing tees to accompany specific [...]
Now that baseball season is officially over, it's hard to ignore that another season of NBA is in full swing -- a painful reminder of what was taken from us in Seattle. And now, of course, there's a documentary to go along with it. Sonicsgate made it's way online last month and while the film has a lot of issues (its in desperate need of art direction, for one -- the Powerpoint-like graphics "needed a fresh pair of eyes," as we like to say), its a compelling tale of a franchise, a city and the [...]
D. Black and Spaceman ::: Photo by Josh Lovseth "Forget about yesterday, today won't be the same, and we won't know, what tomorrow brings..." - Refrain from "Yesterday" by D. Black on Ali'Yah Sometimes it's hard to imagine the person we once were. We dread to recall the downright stupid philosophies of our youth and the havoc [...]
Holy Fuck ::: Photo by Abbey Simmons If the first day of Bumbershoot reminded me of a renaissance festival, then the second day reminded me of last-minute shopping at your local mall. The day felt a bit odd because there was noticeably less people than on Saturday, but somehow it felt more crowded. Blame it on [...]

We arrived at the Seattle Center's Mural Amphitheatre on Friday in plenty of time for Fresh Espresso 's scheduled 6 pm set. Turned out we didn't have to compete with anybody for choice lawn spots other than KEXP hardcores, a handful of unsuspecting families, and an allotment of scraggly army-green Center dwellers. To be clear: the crowd was not blown up. No matter, as I've broadcast recently , Glamour is in heavy rotation. . P Smoov was in all black, in [...]

PW: KEXP. Monotonix coming to Neumos September 19th $13 - 21+ - [...]

This summer, KEXP and Seattle Center extend their Mural concert series for 5 weekends through July and August. On the bill are an eclectic spread of bands ranging from Portland's 6 piece harmonious Blitzen Trapper (July 31) to the tight rhymes of Seattle's Dyme Def. (Aug 7) This year's series also incorporates the famed KEXP BBQ into the fold. A previously "private" event that I believe has gotten too big to fit in either the KEXP parking lot or Denny Park across the street. The show are mostly on Friday nights on the Mural lawn (aka Bumbershoots Blues [...]
Dyme Def and Saigon are here to help you to pick up the flow a great rap video is much better than morning coffee

I caught the first hip-hop show at the new Crocodile Cafe last weekend, and "new" is certainly the right term. "Remodled" or "revamped" would be an understatement. The occasion was the record release party for Dyme Def's new EP Panic, which has to be a leap along the road towards legitimate national attention for the energetic and talented locals. Despite some light contraversy surrounding the show, the vibe was good all night. The performers and the audience couldn't seem to get enough of each other, and I kept wondering how [...]
Dyme Def and Saigon present the video for PICKUPYAFLOW. Saigon spits that animalistic grimey ish on PICKUPYAFLOW . Is it me, or is Dyme Def reminiscent of the Young Gunz??? Regardless, Dyme Def did their thing as well. PICKUPYAFLOW goes to show that underground hip hop aritsts can definitely collaborate on hip hop music with hit potential. Hopefully PICKUPYAFLOW starts gettings some airplay as its catchier than h1n1 and I hate to say it, but Saigon needs a break from the major media conglomerates. If you're on the west coast, watch out for Dyme Def and [...]
Tonight, the Crocodile is hosting their first hip hop show, and it's going to be quite the party. It's the EP release for Dyme Def's newest album, Panic. read more

Dyme Def and Saigon collaborate on PICKUPYAFLOW . Both Dyme Def and Saigon will be touring the West Coast together shortly. You may remember this track from the Behind The Scenes Video footage that I posted of hip hop video for PICKUPYAFLOW. The track is dope, and Saigon does his thing on his verse. For all you out west, look out for Dyme Def and Saigon hitting a city near you. And yeah, in the meantime, hit the download. Download: Dyme Def featuring Saigon - PICKUPYAFLOW [...]

Spaceman is an MC trapped in a Hype Man. The first time I saw him perform was at Chop Suey in Seattle. He wasn't scheduled on the bill, but still managed to make his way on stage to freestyle; he literally stole the show. His charisma and energy held the audience hostage. The fact that Spaceman served as D. Black's Hype Man before he went solo in 2008 may attribute to his electric performances, but I think he was born for this. Spaceman's music is not introspective or wordy, which is a relief. This music [...]

Blue Scholars along with fellow Massline veterans Common Market start their three day joint residency of Neumos tonight, and the first two shows are sold out. Tonight Common Market continues his experiment of holding it down with live funk band Vunt Foom for just this one night, while electronic act Truckasaurus starts the party. Tomorrow and Monday lucky T-Town boy Macklemore snags an opening spot, with Sunday's bill being filled out by The Physics . Monday Dyme Def get's an opportunity to steal (or at least [...]

Dart Adams & Amp said: No mention of the Celtics winning their 18th straight game to go 26-2 while the Lakers have dropped two straight? ========================== Nobody cares till the playoffs, Dart. In theory…yes. But I’m talking about where are all of the Laker and Cavs stans at right now? TSS will do NBA drop and the C’s get minimal love meanwhile they’re breaking longstanding records and having a historic season. I can’t front. With the NFL playoffs about to start, it’s hard to concentrate on the NBA right [...]
