There are a lot of remixes - and, of them, a lot of dubstep remixes - of "Niggas In Paris." This is most likely due to the original song's simple, repetetive background. There's a lot you can do with it without having to change the essence of the song. That said, this one's one of the better ones. Courtesy of Dubstep.net . Last night saw the launch of Kissability , the new cassette-only label founded by Jen Long in association with Transgressive Records. In celebration, the Radio 1 DJ threw a mighty swell Halloween bash at Islington's Buffalo Bar to promote the label's formation. The bill's line-up included noisey Aussies DZ Deathrays (whose Ruined My Life EP was the first pressed on the soon-to-be iconic pink cassette), the self-proclaimed "four geeky childmen with skinny girl wrists and a taste for creating angular, intricate punk" Ice, Sea, Dead People and scuzz-pop darling Crushed Beaks [...]

DZ Deathrays, by Kenny McMurtrie By Kenny McMurtrie October 21, 2011 For those about to mosh … This pair tore things up tonight – a more mobile frontman I've yet to witness in Sneaky's and getting an un-blurred pic of the drummer was no mean feat yet the audience barely scraped into double figures. Given the accolades garnered in this country following DZ Deathrays' previous UK jaunt you'd expect them to be better known so maybe it was a lack of promotion or airplay or whatever. [...]

da haben die hummings mal wieder ein glückliches händchen bewiesen und mit den dz deathrays ein sehr feines noiseperlchen über den teich ...
After my post on COOLRUNNINGS new 7-inch, someone at that label emailed me to let me know about their next release: DZ Deathrays. MP3: DZ Deathrays - Gebbie Street There will be a handful of you out there who will hate DZ Deathrays for trying to sound like Death from Above 1979. Decent point. However, [...]
I love tracks that last less than 2 minutes. Usually they are full with energy and so is this one. It comes from the Australian band DZ Deathrays, it is called "Rad Solar" and sounds like Death from Above 1979. And video perfectly matches the track. Here is another track from them called "Gebbie St", [...]

New video from The Death Set's 'Michael Poiccard', a record I've gushed over before . One of the stand-out tracks of the record getting the videographic treatment, and thoroughly discomposing my stomach in the process. What's worse is the girl at the end is so damn hot, but I feel too ill in my tummy to get aroused. Confusing :*( In other news, Brisbane band DZ Deathrays are in the process of blowing the fuck up. Word has it the Death Set will be doing a blow-for-blow cover of [...]

Finding great music is generally good enough. Realising it's local? (Or local enough compared to the other side of the world) Even better. Well that's the exact feeling I got when I heard the latest EP from DZ DEATHRAYS' (formally DZ: name changed due to dubstep becoming a global phenomena and UK dubstep DJ titled 'DZ' becoming massive = confusion) Brutal Tapes . For those of you that don't know, DZ DEATHRAYS (always spelled in capitals) describe themselves as a thrash-pop band hailing from Brisbane. The DFA 1979 inspired two piece produce some catchy and [...]

Known also as 'those dudes who make killer filmclips' , Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley/DZ/DZ Deathrays' Brutal Tapes marks the second EP for the thrash punk (thrush?) dance DUO. I bold/caps duo as they make more noise than that plane Snoop Dogg piloted in one of his acting career 'highpoints' if it cut laps on [insert relevant street] on a Friday. In a good way. Compiled of studio recorded, house party (complete with rowdy bro crowd vocals) recorded and remixed tracks, [...]

Bleeding Knees Club If you're itching with impatience for the return of Beavis and Butthead this summer (and let's face it, who isn't?), you could do worse than turning to Australia's Bleeding Knees Club for temporary succour. ("Hnnr, hnnr, she said 'suck'! Like blowjob! Hnnr hnnr.") MTV's puerile twosome will return this summer the same ages we left them. Outside the pub before the gig, BKC's Jordan (floppy blonde hair) laments how the music press keeps writing that him and bandmate Alex (shaggy brown hair) are teen kids. They're now [...]

SXSW torrent 2011 best of artists C through E. Yesterday I posted best artists from A to B and got some good responses. Unlike yesterday's post, I think I will save you from another long intro. The Chevelles are an Australian pop/rock band that ha

Today we're taking a bit of a departure from the typical straight-dubstep tunes regularly featured here. While all of these tunes definitely exude elements common in dubstep, we're venturing a bit into nearby territory like dancehall, reggae, rap, and classic rock. Not that rap and classic rock have much to do with dubstep, but, you know, f*** it. Take a listen and lemme know what you think on Twitter: >>> @Crimestein Peas and dub. Diplo being the shit, a trend setter, and a man a head of his time as dropped a HUGE Dubstep album. The album consists of some of the best in the Dubstep world and apparently some of Diplos favs. Including a Datsik remix of his tune he did with Lil Jon' "I Don't Like You" and our personal favorite track 14, Little Jinder: Youth Blood (12th Planet & Flinch Remix)! True fire! Nothing but love for Diplo on this move for sure! Check out the preview video after the jump. Purchase: [...]

Ayye rudeboy! Bust out that patois translator as we celebrate the genre that shaped the unmistakable feel of dubstep -- so go on, light up a spliff, and soak up the sounds of Jamaica infused with grimey, wobbly love. I'm back with some more classics for you bass-loving, 2-stepping dubheads! Some older, some newer, these choons have enough wobble to keep you ataxic till next Wednesday. In order to celebrate Mr. Nectar's forthcoming, sure-to-be-epic Wildstyle EP , I've posted the title track off his most recent album. We've also got the usual dose of Rusko, because I love him so much, and you should, too. For you newcomers, we've got some clutch goodies like Benga's Night - a dubstep standard (also see last week's post for more classics). Lastly, there's a whole gang of [...]

Alright folks, I figure by now you've finished listening to the jams from last week's Wobble Wednesday , so we'd better load up some new tracks to keep you going till next hump day: As promised, we have a very special treat today -- a truly classic dubstep mix of epic proportions! Of course, I'm speaking of none other than Squincy Jones's masterpiece NINTENDUB . This 40min/46sec mix provides a unique and well-executed blend of some particularly unlikely genres -- 8-bit Nintendo loops, dubstep, and dirty south rap. The result is simply [...]
