![RUBIK, FUN, THE DRUMS [SUGGESTED NYC CONCERTS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3844059_lg.jpg)
There's a ton of great shows in NYC this week, creating an interesting dilemma for those that need to select just one or two. The Drums , fun. , Young Man , Lucius , ARMS , Kurt Vile & the Violators , and Cloud Nothings are all playing our fine city, but it's still our 2nd B-Day Bash that I'm most excited for. Featuring Rubik , Ambassadors , Yellowbirds , E-603 , and For a Minor Reflection , Manhattan venue Pianos will [...]

On Friday, November 11, we're taking over the music venue Pianos in lower Manhattan and celebrating the 2nd birthday of The Wild Honey Pie . In planning our b-day bash, I couldn't think of a better way than bringing 5 of my absolute favorite bands together and inviting our friends and readers out to party down with me and the rest of the team. Having this blog/website has been an amazing time and gets better every day. Thank you for all the continued support and I hope to see you on 11/11/11! [...]

I love mashups without a hint of guilt - fuck off if you're gonna hate. This is the first part in a really ass-long series of bangin' versus's: 1) Knife (Grizzly Bear Remixed) - Girl Talk 2) Everlasting Shine Blockaz - Wick-it the Instigator 3) Lil Kim (feat. Missy Elliott) vs MGMT - Can You Hear My Kids Now - The Hood Internet 4) No Karma - Jaydiohead 5) Losing Your Virginity - Hollertronix 6) Lights Out - E-603 7) Ben Is Chasing Beautiful [...]
A sit-down with DJ duo The Hood Internet in South Korea brought up topics like traveling, real-life occupations, and Korean alcohol. Their music, which is renowned for its hybrid of indie-rock and hip-hop, has been critically acclaimed for the loose, party atmosphere it provides, which is precisely what Daegu's Club Urban was treated to a few weeks ago.

Ok folks, time to bring you all a very special musical treat. My inbox gets hit all the time with unknown artists saying 'check me out.' Sometimes they are less than amazing or just a bit of work away from making the BDN cut, but when I got an email from Deskhop the other day, I must say I was blown away. He compared his sound to Girl Talk and E-603, two of my favorite mash-up laptop-dj's. I've heard that before, so I was skeptical of the actual product. Click play…."Holy shit, this is rad!" I [...]

Mashup mastermind, Ethan Ward (he goes under the alias of E-603 ), recently answered some questions for the WILD honey pie . If you haven't check out his music before, head over to his website (click here ) where all his albums are available for free (that's right, free). Check out the interview below. the WILD honey pie: You're pretty well-known in the mashup scene, and deservingly so. Any [...]

In honor of Girl Talk, the Super Mash Brothers, E-603, White Panda, the Hood Internet and all those Disc Jockeys out there who make a name for themselves by taking (sometimes the most random) music and mixing it with other music, I am going to post a set of legit mash-up songs. Not always do they mash-up good songs but once when you hear a good mash-up you will know it. White Panda and the Hood Internet take the harder route by just taking two songs and mixing them together while Girl Talk, the Super Mash Brothers, and E-603 take [...]
Rap music has never really appealed to me as much as rock. I guess it stems from growing up on good old-fashioned rock-n-roll music, and not the hip hop that was ever so popular in the 1980s. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of rap that I love. Who doesn't love Biggie, Tupac, and Snoop. That music is timeless (whether our parents want to admit it or not). Hip hop and rap just got a whole lot more interesting for music fans that may have previously [...]

Gregg Gillis aka Girl Talk is the king of the new mash up. He sells out shows. He has tons of fans. His shows are a mix of frenzied sweat as his fans rush the stage to become part of the show. Is there room for another in music? This beer guzzling ginger is NOT Girl Talk . Check out upstart E-603 ! Girl Talk v2.0 or the hipster Napoleon Dynamtie? You decide. E-603 on [...]

So I kinda missed Monday, but I was close this week. Here are some great tunes by some artists you may not be familiar with yet and a couple that have been around for a while. Enjoy! ---------------- A. A. Bondy - I Can See the Pines are Dancing (MP3) I first heard of A. A. Bondy a couple years ago and was very excited to get word about his upcoming record entitled When the Devil's Loose - set for release on the first [...]
A Happy Friday to you and yours! As always, we have sought to cap off your week with a stellar mix of the week's best new singles, remixes, and covers, along with mp3s from some up-and-comers you just might want to check out. This week is no exception, as you'll find sounds from the likes of Yo La Tengo, Elvis Perkins In Dearland, Os Mutantes, Simian Mobile Disco, Animal Collective, The Beatles, and more! So, get excited... and get listening! NEW Singles: "Born Electric" by Anti-Pop Consortium [...]

This kind of thing usually isn't my bag, but when the piano bit from "Come Sail Away" kicks in around the one minute mark, I lose my shit; for whatever reason it strikes me as really funny. (Mash-up artists, listen up: the first one of you clowns to put "Mr. Roboto" in front of a Wu-Tang song will receive a personal check from me for an unreasonably large sum.) The cheery, carnival-like deedly-doots behind Ludacris's chanting at the end also make me chuckle. I'm not sure that this song (or the record from which it comes) was intended comedically; I [...]
Torn Up contains over 280 samples from the past six decades, and also includes some music composed by Ethan himself. Live, Ethan masterfully mixes about 500 samples together into one party anthem entirely on the spot. "Lights Out" (0:38 – 1:02) [Samples: Bobby Dazzler, Head Bussas, La La, Pony] | "If You Wanna" (2:25 – 3:45) [...]

Without a doubt, one of the biggest acts to shake up modern music has been Girl Talk . Drastically reshaping the ways we listen to music given the shortened attention spans of general culture as well as their dependence on iTunes shuffle , Girl Talk and the increasingly popular trend of mash-up are changing the game for rappers, remixers, and electronic musicians. No longer are radio-trash pop songs relegated to the FM dial; by taking the acapella of any horrid rap or pop song and placing it over background music familiar to hipsters, indie [...]

Summer is the time for music, particularly music that fits squarely into the "jam" category. This seems slightly counter-intuitive; wouldn't the perfect time for a jam be when the energy it brings is needed, on a cold, blustery day when you're feeling tired? Nevertheless, I've been enjoying my fair share of fruit preserves this summer. Here's a few favorites: • Your Twenties is a new band hailing from Devon, England. As a former Devonshirite, or something, I'm inclined to enjoy this band's fun, upbeat pop. My inclination isn't necessary, Your Twenties is [...]

So there's this kid who was born a few years after me who now 20 years later makes music. To be more specific, he's E-603 (The E stands for Ethan while the 603 is the zip code for the more upright state in the Montshire Alliance - New Hampshire) and he makes mashups. His new album is called Torn Up and his sample library reaches from the depths of the indie underground and the peak of the Top 40. You wanna listen? Go to his myspace . You wanna listen to more and for [...]

It looks like Dave isn't going to be able to get to his post for today because he has a wedding, so I am going to make this a quick one in between all my stuff to do today. (That's what she said.) Just a couple things I've been enjoying lately which haven't fit into any other posts. I hope everyone has a great 4 th of July if you're in the States, and a great weekend if you're not. Stay safe. Follow the instructions on the fireworks. Diplo/Blaqstarr – Get Off (mp3) [...]

REMEMBER! ALL MP3s ARE FOR SAMPLING PURPOSES ONLY! IF YOU LIKE THE MUSIK THEN SUPPORT THE ARTIST BUY PURCHASING THE SONG/ALBUM! I love mashups. Especially mashups that involve pop musik and classic tunes instead of hip hop beat after hip hop beat. Yes, Girl Talk is the best mashup artist and his selection of beats will keep any party jumpin'. In fact, the most fun I've ever had at a concert was with Girl Talk. This guy, E-603, he uses pop beats with hip [...]

I heard this guy a little while ago, and wasn't really hooked at first. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is Girl Talk after hearing one track. I think Girl Talk is definitely better, but E-063 has potential. E-603- Lights Out E-603- Dirtbag Baby
