Our thoughts and prayers go out this weekend to 62 year old Australian-born pop superstar Robin Gibb, founding member and long-time lead singer of disco trailblazers the Bee Gees, who is reportedly fighting for his life in a London hospital after a long struggle with cancer. In his honor, we're recovering a June 2008 feature which mines my origin as an audiophile and pays tribute to the seminal work of the Bee Gees through an expanded set of folk-tuned coverage. Gibb and his brothers may have spent their careers on the far end of [...]
Simon Sh:Out has been killing the remix game lately. If Simon keeps dropping banger remixes of songs everyone already loves then he'll be hitting the mainstream in no time. Check his SoundCloud for more . Click here for the free full quality download link courtesy of the man himself. Eagle Eye Cherry- "Save Tonight (Simon Sh:Out Remix)"
Everybody love Eagle Eye Cherry's timeless smash "Save Tonight". If you don't, then we have problems. A dude by the name of Simon Sh:Out went out of his way to make it a modern, electro banger - and he succeeded without going too over the top. This isn't just some college kid just turning an early 902s hit into a shitty techno remix from his Macbook. This one's got lasting power, and should be listened to and downloaded right meow. Shoutout to @brentonrules for the tip. Download: Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight (Simon Sh:Out Remix) Tweet

Another remix from Simon Sh:Out. Doesn't like to make things easy for himself. Chooses an acoustic track to remix. That few will remember. Because it dates from 97. And turns it into a prog house tune. Challenging. Eagle Eye Cherry is son of Don Cherry and half-brother to Nena Cherry. He's never had the success that they've had. This remix takes the acoustic guitar and laid back vocals of the original and adds an uplifting progressive house tune, which still comes at you with elements of trance. This is a song for high summer, which doesn't feel quite as [...]

I love when DJ's put their own spin on a classic jam and that is exactly what Simon Sh:Out does here. Simon's been on a roll lately and he is definitely a guy to keep an eye out for. Enjoy! This week was a productive week in terms of listening to music. Got through a lot of new albums as well as some older ones in my collection. Hope everyone finds something they enjoy! So despite what you may think, we here at Knox Road are real people with real lives that exist outside the confines of www.KnoxRoad.com (shocking, no?). As a real human, with real emotions and real dreams and real aspirations, I am taking a very real adventure of a lifetime. No, I'm not taking a note from Garfield up there and hanging out at the beach (what a beach bum, that Garfield). For the next month or so, I'll be at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota shooting photos for a multimedia documentary project that will hopefully result in [...]
David Barnes (harmonica); Vernon Reid (guitar); James "Blood" Ulmer (vocal, guitar); Eagle-Eye Cherry (vocal, percussion programming) J. B. Lenoir was an African American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter, active in the 1950s and 1960s Chicago blues scene. Lenoir was known in the 1950s for his showmanship - in particular his zebra-patterned costumes - and his high-pitched vocals.

take this wine and drink with me, let's delay our misery Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight Eagle Eye Cherry is son of jazz great Don Cherry, half-sister of singer Neneh Cherry, and the artist behind 1998's epic "Save Tonight." Weather it was the theme song to your second adolescent relationship or not you surely know this jam. Eagle Eye (Real name. Awesome.) has since released two more LPs but I haven't heard peep off of them. Bury your face in MySpace /// Buy cheap at Amazon [...]

It's been a few days, I know. I know. Why? Well do you want rational or excuses? Ok, it's 11:11 and this is what I can come up with... Excuse #1: No NEW music has really caught my ear this week. Ok, The Decemberists did come out with a new one...and Gomez too (see below for them). I know music comes out daily. In fact, it was generalized that over 28,000 albums were released in 2008...over 75 a day. That being said, not all are good. Those that [...]

Our random video of the week feature seems to have taken a two week break. Never fear however as it is back in full swing and as random as ever. I recently came across my old 45 for Buffalo Stance . I had forgotten how much I loved this song. Neneh Cherry was the hippest chick back in the day and the song? It still holds to this day - not too dated and retro in just the best way. Random fact - Neneh's [...]
Eagle-Eye [...]
This week's Cover and Original is one that I've wanted to do for a very long time, ever since I came across Damien Rice and RayLaMontagne's cover. This is one of my favorite songs, and it's neat to hear some different takes on it. Ray and Damien's version is by far my favorite, while Janis and Eagle Eye Cherry's versions are also quite good. Then of course, there's the original, which is fantastic. To Love Somebody (Bee Gees) - Ray Lamontagne and Damien Rice [...]

Bee Gees Gold was the first record I ever bought. It was a used copy, already ragged; I remember the frayed cardboard at the edges when I opened up the album. I picked it up from some older kid at our elementary school swap meet. It cost a quarter, I think. And to be honest, I have no memory of listening to it. What I remember is the thrill of ownership. I grew up in a house [...]
H ere is another "It Came From The Nineties" post. It seems like so long ago, doesn't it? It was years and years before my wife would have ever probably considered putting on a Shrek puppet show and imitating Eddie Murphy's Donkey voice (like she is doing right now).
