When I got my very own laptop, nigh on 15 months ago now, I was overjoyed. Here at last was a computer I could organise the way I wanted to. No more folders scattered all over various hard drive partitions, no more desktops filled almost completely with icons and shortcuts (YUCK!), and no unwanted programs whatsoever. (You should see our desktop at home. Sheesh. I guess it can't be helped, when more than one person uses a computer regularly, without making use of different Windows logins.) Then the question arose -- how to organise my music? [...]
A week ago we had a sneak peek on Eagles ' first single in 14 years, How Long, now it's time for the video. Let's say that old age might have caught up a bit with the mighty birds of pray, as frankly they don't look very ecstatic in the video, and off it for that matter, for 'huge' comeback from 15 years of new release hiatus, i would expect a little more spirit. Anyway, you got my point, the video's as stiff as board; it features the band having a walk though a desert, climbing dunes [...]

So you're having your daily stroll with the car, heading to your local Wal-Mart, listening to your favorite radio station, when all of a sudden a strange deja-vu hits you like a punch to the kisser. You stop the car and say to yourself 'Man this a Eagles song, but I've never heard this before'. That's because this is their first single in 14 years, called 'How Long', released all over the air waves and probably airing on a radio station near you as we speak. Retro is a good word to describe the track, and [...]
Here's a list of links from Chris Carder. But first, if you ever google , msn , or yahoo chris carder you'll notice one of the paid ads almost always associated with my name. as of yet, this link does not have any Chris Carder Music, thus a warning label is in order: Carderville Dependent Artists (a swicki - a search community) You Can get Trust Now [...]

Authors Note: I am getting out of Florida for a few days to do some mountain biking up in North Georgia. Regular posting will resume on May 22nd assuming I get through the weekend with no major injuries. Last month I posted the rejected songs to this comp. To paraphrase: I am a member of the International Mix Tape Project a global community of music-oriented souls that exchange monthly compilation tapes and CD-Rs. You can visit the site at www.InternationalMixtapeProjec t.com , then click on Rules to find out [...]

Don Imus was a terrible novelist. His only effort, God's Other Son , is a tale of incest and low comedy that could seriously compete with a Penthouse letter when it comes to artistic merit. Imus called the women's basketball team at Rutgers a bunch of nappy-headed hos on the radio. No matter that he's said worse about every group of people ever. That he is a legitimately but not actually bankrupt individual who thought channeling his millions into the most obvious of causes (kids with cancer-his [...]
Damn Son. It's all about birds of prey right now. Skeet Eagle , Kill , Video

OK, everyone has heard Hotel California with The Eagles . But have you gone further down the road and listening to the earlier records? Here's two goodies! Download: Tequila Sunrise (From the record Desperado - 1972) Download: [...]

The worst thing about going on vacation is coming back. Especially when you go to California. I spent a week in Carlsbad, CA enjoying the dry heat and evening cool over 4th of July weekend and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Coming back to work was everything I dreaded, and more, of course. Heading out west reminds me of driving over the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time on my way to San Francisco and eventually the 2004 Bridge School Benefit (Paul McCartney, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper, Eddie Vedder, etc.). Who knew [...]

Philadelphia, PA-Calling it, "The only way to give us a shot to win this weekend", the Philadelphia Eagles have signed former two way player and Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik to play all 22 positions, as well as having sole responsibility for special teams, when the Eagles face the New York Giants on Sunday. Bednarik's practices at the Linc with his now un-retired No. 60 [...]

I'm an asshole. As if we haven't heard from every talking head imaginable about the T.O. saga, Arlen Specter has now accused the Eagles and the NFL of treating T.O. "unfairly". As is fairness was part of the picture here. Hey Arlen, it's business you has-been, not tiddlywinks. Owens acted like a Grade A douchebag through the whole thing ,and maybe the Eagle are being a little vindictive. But for Specter to even mention that this could be an anti-trust [...]

Suspended Eagles receiver Terrell Owens held a press conference yesterday afternoon to “Let the world know how disappointed I was with Thanksgiving dinner last Thursday. Owens celebrated Thanksgiving in his home state of Alabama with his grandmother and assorted relatives and friends. Owens: "You guys won't believe how bad the cream corn was. “Thanksgiving dinner is usually [...]

It may not show up in the game recap, and no statistician worth his salt will tell you that the Eagles season ended last night. The schedule tells us that there are 7 more games to be played in this all too frustrating season, but it sure felt like the end as I watched David Akers’ 60 yd FG try come up woefully short of its destination. A season that started with a bunch of questions, has all but answered them as the Birds sit 4-5 and in the cellar of the division they once commanded. [...]
Since we all wondered what Ralph Nader thought of the T.O. debacle, he has been kind enough to weigh in. In fact, he fired off a letter to the Eagles whining that the fans have been cheated because they bought tickets to games expecting to see T.O. from philly.com : His letter said that putting T.O. back in the lineup would satisfy the investment of fans nationwide who paid for tickets expecting to see the wide receiver catch something besides the next flight to Atlanta. "The [...]

I'm not going to write about the Terrell Owens apology. It's already been analyzed ad nauseam via newspapers, television, sports talk radio, chat rooms, blogs, online journals, smoke signals, etc. Instead, I want to salute a local reporter here in Philly who was both witness and participant to the biggest circus Moorestown, NJ has ever seen. David Henry of Channel 6, Philadelphia's local ABC affiliate, deserves a raise. I want to shake his hand, because he is the author of the best question in the history of sports press conferences. [...]
Terrell Owens has played his last game as a Philadelphia Eagle. Head Coach Andy Reid held a press conference today and read from a prepared statement that Owens would be suspended without pay for four games and would not return to the Eagles once the suspension is over. Reid did not comment further. What are the odds that T.O. ends up in Oakland next season, at a substantially reduced salary? Owens might be the dumbest football player in the history of the NFL. He talked himself off of a Super Bowl-caliber [...]
COWBOYS 33 EAGLES 10 Don't worry, everyone. I've already dispatched some local Philadelphia detectives to Dallas to investigate the apparent kidnapping of the entire Eagles team, because I didn't recognize any of the players who showed up on the field yesterday. Something must've happened during the bus ride from the hotel to the stadium. Kidnapping can be the only logical explanation for what occurred at Texas Stadium, right? BOOS Plenty to go around. Where should I start? - Boo to the [...]
Sorry about my lack of an Eagles Wrap-Up post this week. Tense contract negotiations between my agent and the BM Rant "purse-holders" prevented me from writing on Monday. Now that my financial concerns have been alleviated, I'm back at my desk and ready to blog. To replace the lost Eagles' post, I've decided to write about all four local sports teams: PHILLIES First of all, I applaud the Phillies for making a valiant run at the playoffs. There were many times when they seemed to be down and out - [...]
