the format - dog problems [after being dropped by their label... twice, the format had the ultimate revenge by self releasing the best album of their career. ah love these stories! check out their latest video which is literally a hand-ful. (thanks to music for kids who can't read good for naming this one of his top 10 favorite songs of the year.)] silversun pickups - lazy eye [...]

TFD has been flawless again this week as usual, but there was a lot of other stuff going on in the world that just disgusted me. The week that we find out that Britney Spears is a bisexual should be a week of celebration, not a week of confusion and disarray. Kramer made it uncomfortable for me to watch my favourite TV show 5 times a day anymore. The big angry lesbian Rosie O'Donnell lashed out at hottie-bulimic Kelly Ripa for making a homophobic comment about a closeted Clay Aiken. Tenacious D has a new movie coming out. Heidi Klum had another baby [...]
This week I previewed Wincing The Night Away, the new album from The Shins. Overall I really enjoyed the album; I will talk more about it closer to the release date (currently set for January 23, 2007). In other news, a minor flood somewhere in the area has knocked out the main phone lines until Wednesday. Thankfully my cell is with another provider, although the silence is rather refreshing. I'm am also expriencing problems uploading songs. This is mainly due to the system upgrades EZArchives are currently doing. So the songs today are taken from the Pitchfork blog. I will [...]
Everybody Knows Everybody will be on Earlimart's forthcoming fifth album. Download MP3

I was late to jump on to the Earlimart boat but earlier this year I finally gave in. I was weary when I heard all the Elliott Smith comparisons but after few recommendations I decided to look past that and give them a chance, I was happy I did. Earlimart have a new album coming out and they gave pitchfork a song and have 2 more to be revealed from the new album. From the new album: Earlimart - Nevermind the Phonecalls
Two songs from bands named after California landmarks. Earlimart is named after a city in Central California , near Bakersfield. Silversun Pickups are named after a liquor store located at the corner of Sunset and Silver Lake Boulevards. Both bands are from Southern California, my old home. Earlimart's lead singer/guitarist Aaron Espinoza is known for his Eagle Rock recording studio The Ship. He made a name for himself with his engineering and production work with artists such as the late Elliott Smith, Grandaddy and Silversun Pickups. [...]

I remember hearing Earlimart's "Answers & Questions" on woxy a few weeks ago and ever since then i had been craving to listen to it again. As luck would have it, I got an email tonight containing the track off their recently released 7" limited-edition vinyl on Suicide Squeeze . It's a very gentle and incredibly melodic acoustic track that contains a gorgeous chorus over synthesized strings i'm assuming. Towards the end it plays to a very abrupt stop as the song ends on just a [...]
I am sure this will blast through the music blogosphere (maybe already has). I don't usually jump on the train so to speak but I love Earlimart. They have to rank as one of my favorite bands of the past few years. According to the "massed mailed" email I received: "The band is currently recording, and close to finishing, their follow-up to 2004's Treble Tremble) mp3 The Movies
This should be all over the Web in a matter of minutes. Typically, I try to avoid the herd mentality on mass e-mails disguised as personal letters ("Hey ... you! I have a song for ... you!" Recently, I've gotten e-mails addressed to someone named Michael; it's that extra, personal touch that really counts.). In this case, I like Earlimart , so just call me a lemming. Pitchfork reviewed this track , the A-side of a 7" for Suicide Squeeze (order it here ). Answers and Questions [...]
The news: Earlimart have released a new limited edition 7" vinyl on Suicide Squeeze . It has two tracks, including: "Answers & Questions" -- this track is a preview track from the upcoming untitled album, due early 2007> this is an different version than the finished album track. "Caruthers Boy" -- This is an exclusive track for Suicide Squeeze which [...]

My favorite field trips in elementary school were visits to the local zoo. I was always fascinated by how many different kinds of animals there were on this planet. So, for the next two days, we're going on a field trip to a zoo - an audio zoo. Beta Band - Dog Got a Bone Broadcast - Black Cat Money Mark - Insects are All Around Us Deerhoof - The Pickup Bear [...]

The first day on the job went well, I hope. I wrote my first little news piece this morning - here are excerpts . Earlimart - "We Drink On The Job": mp3 Cher: As if! This song wins the awards for Earlimart song that is most awesome and sounds the most like Broken Social Scene's "Stars and Sons." Great live band, if you ever get the chance. The Constantines - "Working Full-Time": mp3 Too bad the Cons don't have a song [...]
