Back in June 2011, East Hundred self-released The Spells . The Philadelphia band recorded the album live in the studio as a full band. The band was recently nominated for Indie Pop Rock Band/Artist of the Year by Tri-State Indie, with a big awards show happening Feb. 26. "It's pretty rad to be nominated," Will told Buzzgrinder, "and be listed amongst so many other great regional musicians." East Hundred will be doing a live DVD/audio recording in early spring at a local [...]

In conjunction with the release of East Hundred's brand new EP The Spells, which the group itself describes (and very touchingly, we might add) as having "a mercurial heart....kindled by Philadelphia; our relationship with the people around us, our community, the city itself." the band also releases a brand new video for their track "This Year" which was made with footage captured by our friend and local videographer and photographer, Justin Clowes. Over the years, Justin has amassed footage of several local groups, and very recently we have also seen him successfully [...]

Amos Lee performs 11/5 at Patriots Theater FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5 Amos Lee 's new album, Mission Bell , is set to drop on January 25, 2011. What's the best way to describe our feelings on the upcoming release? We tremble with delight? Wait with bated breath? Quiver with anticipation? Either way, the next two and a half months promise to be long ones. Thankfully, we can pass the time by continuing to post about Amos every time he sneezes. Amos Lee performs at 8 p.m. at Patriots Theater; [...]
As we recently mentioned, we've got a lot of songs we just haven't posted, so we're trying to catch up. (It's not gonna happen, but fondly may we dream.) For this post we drop down to the chronological end of our queue. Frankly, we're not exactly sure when we found these, but it appears it was in late 2008. Try not to settle into any particular mood, for this lot is all over the lot.The Charade -

The Great Unknown isn't just heading out on the road this fall ; the band is also heading back to school. During the local quartet's upcoming tour—which starts on October 22nd at the Appalachian Brewery Company , and includes stops throughout the Midwest—members of the band will participate in America SCORES , a national youth-development program that works with inner-city kids living in high-risk neighborhoods. Presented by ASCAP, America SCORES brings musicians into under-funded urban schools that [...]

Philly-based alternative outfit, East Hundred , is gaining some notoriety in its home city. Two years of touring and writing was their prerequisite to this debut full length album. I sat with a shiny physical copy of Passenger for the better part of the last week. A compact disc… believe it. Passenger kicked off with the song "Slow Burning Crimes." Immediately I was excited by the 90's alt/pop feel. The guitars reminded me of The Cranberries. Looking back, one thing has become clear to me about the [...]
If you couldn't tell, we like to party. Fiestas, festivals, soirees... they're all the same to us. Our motto: If there's a band, there's an event. And as part of our push to keep throwing more and more events, we'll be out in Philadelphia come September to host yet another CoS-sponsored showcase. This time, we're here to support the Philadelphia Film & Music Festival (or, Philly F/M, for short). If you haven't heard, the upcoming event is a four day festival, taking placed from Thursday, September 23rd to Sunday, September 26th, [...]

Link zur Band-Website MP3-Download East Hundred «Fade into you» MP3-Download East [...]

Click image to download full album Sounds like: Land of Talk, Rainer Maria Download audio file (01SlowBurningCrimes.mp3) What's so good? Sometimes I'm not even sure how I find new music. Do I stumble upon it while reading other blogs? Scanning upcoming concerts? Clicking through the friends of Myspace bands? Either way, the search is usually long, and not always fruitful. That is, until I hear one song that really stands out. People say that first [...]

THE RUMBLE: BROOKLYN returns this Wednesday night to SOUTHPAW in Park Slope for another night of great music by bands on their way up. The party is brought to you by Future Sounds, DeFalco Presents, WOXY, Sound Fix Records and Stranded In Stereo. Headlining is a band that should be on everyone's radar by now, BODY LANGUAGE , with their electronic finesse, having worked with folks like Passion Pit on their first recordings. The ladies from Philadelphia, [...]

Breaking the long lull in posting with a few photos today from this past Thursday night's first annual fundraiser show for the Weathervane Music Organization . If you havn't heard of Weathervane it's a non profit organization cofounded by Philadelphia's own Brian McTear to work with and support independent artists in this challenging new era for working musicians. You can learn more and get involved by lending your support here http://weathervanemusic.org/ . Thursday night started off in the amazing space at 2424 Studios with a special solo show by Scott McMicken of [...]

We're pleased to announce the line up for this month's RUMBLE: BROOKLYN @ Southpaw on November 18th. One of our new favorites, and a regular on the FS radio show on WOXY, is BODY LANGUAGE and their electronic finesse, as they headline a strong four band bill in Park Slope. The Philly based act, EAST HUNDRED support and newcomers PEEPHOLE and AERIAL EAST round out the pre-Thanksgiving Rumble. Party starts [...]
Earlier this year, Philly-based rock band East Hundred released their first full length Passenger . It tells the story of lost love, heartache and hope. East Hundred began as a basement recording project in 2004 when brothers Brooke and Will Blair invited Beril Guceri, Brooke's then-girlfriend, to add vocals to their tracks. As work began on the album, Brooke and Beril's relationship ended. Rather than stop the recording process, the resulting emotion and heartache gave the band what they needed to turn a few songs into a full album. Passenger is full [...]
