GRIMES (real name: Claire Boucher ), ‘urban faery’ and Canadian experimental electronic artist, is the powerhouse behind 'Visions' (one of last year’s most acclaimed albums). In addition to her music, she maintains a popular blog on Tumblr . There, she catalogues gifs of cute animals and her love of Game of Thrones (like any good Tumblogger), but there are also posts dedicated to her other interests: pop music, fashion, culture and feminism. These blogs offer an earnest, enduring perspective of what it’s like to be a female artist in [...]

Last week we kicked off the bank holiday with the s ecretsundaze Easter bash where we had a right good time (the giant disco ball topped it for us) . The highlight had to be headliner Nina Kraviz who absolutely nailed her set - we’ve been reliving the party, listening to it on repeat for the past few days (mainly in the gym!). Check it out below The next secretsundaze bash is Sunday 5 th May – oh they do love a good [...]
Blissful feast and bountiful beats, this is exactly what comes to our minds when we think about the Kitsuné Club Night Easter Bank Holiday Special, who happened last Thursday in London at the Village Underground! A huge thanks to IS TROPICAL, D E N A, Aeroplane, The Twelves, Gigamesh who turned London upside down and all the folks in the crowd! [...]
Another CD that I found during the sort out was MC Pitman's It Takes A Nation Of Tossers, which my friend Sarah burned for me ages ago. Coincidentally, I spoke to Sarah on Facebook today while making this owl , as she had posted some old photos from the Falklands. Further more, I noticed that Pitman scored the only goal of the game for AFC Bournemouth against Firewall FC this afternoon . Witness the pitness. [Right-click and "Download Document" to get the mp3 of Witness The Pitness [...]
Easter was wonderful. The sun was shining the whole day in celebration. Dinner was perfect. Our table was at a window overlooking the water. Just for the fun of it, we brought a light up bunny from the Easter basket to decorate the table. Miss Bunny was pink with flowered fabric hands and ears, a lace collar and lights which blinked and she was quite the conversation piece. People pointed and laughed and chatted with us about our dinner guest. We took Miss Bunny's picture as a memento of her big day. We each had a few drinks, generous drinks, [...]

I finally got around to alphabetising my CDs; that's how bored and skint I've been this Easter weekend. During the sort I found Metronomy 's Nights In EP, a bonus CD that came with Nights Out when bought from Rough Trade , which nicely bridges the wonky bedroom electronics of Pip Paine to the wonky full band sound of Nights In. Here's the highlight, the bonkers The Chase (which also featured on the US iTunes release). Well wonky. [...]

Bunnies. Chocolate. Eggs. Jesus. Easter has it all. What better way to celebrate this springtime holiday than with a Spotify playlist? Grab your baskets and start digging through these twenty tracks after the jump.

Happy Zombie Jesus Day yall! We've finally got the day off today - whose gonna be watching that Walking Dead season finale tonight?
It's not a proper Christian holiday unless there's some freakout over some imagined secularist attack on their beliefs. And this Easter pent up Christian outrage is frothing over. Well, I'm not sure "pent up" is the right phrase since it rarely seems contained. But today, Google has made itself a target in the "Culture Wars" because it is Caesar Chavez's birthday and they chose to horor the deceased labor leader instead of a resurrected zombie Jesus with their Google "doodle." Now I'm no expert or anything, but I kinda think Jesus would have [...]
The sun is shining on this Easter morning. The air is still, and the day is getting warmer. No winter coats will cover pastel Easter dresses. I can hear birds singing even though the windows are closed. Yesterday I saw a few buds on one of my bushes. The buds are tiny and closed tightly, but they are another sign that spring is gaining hold. The alarm rang at 6:15 this morning, and I turned it off and went back to sleep for an hour. I had set it early so I could sneak down my friends' house and decorate the [...]

Happy Chocolate Jesus Bunny Eggs Day everyone! I've always kind of liked Easter, actually. Mostly because I was a chocolate fiend as a kid, I suppose, and in fact to a large extent I still am one. My parents were always pretty sparing with chocolate (and fizzy drinks, and sugary breakfast cereals) so it was left, as it so often it, to my grandparents to fill with stuff which was bad for us, and which we absolutely fucking loved. I suppose my parents always took the attitude that a/ living in Austria and then Singapore we didn't see [...]

Earliest I sloshed my way to the mailbox and then to the driveway to get the papers. My road is slush covered. Tire marks show the route of my paper delivery, and when I got inside, I could see my footprints. It is lightly snowing, slanted and from the northeast, but I can also hear drips on the deck from the roof. The weather for today is rainy and cold with temperatures in the 302s. I just hope it stays above freezing. The wind was with us all night but has since pretty much disappeared. On the early news was [...]
