MP3: BLOW! - Attention MP3: Dead Leaf Echo - Half-Truth Woodlands Tavern probably isn't the first place you'd expect to see a festival spawned by Columbus shoegaze band Love Culture, but the band's drummer, Robert Fischer, got the idea after noticing the venue's two-stage setup. He started talking about the idea with friends and bandmates, who all pitched in. Says Fischer: "As much as I love all of our local festivals, the lineups are almost exclusively Columbus bands. While this festival is still heavy on the locals (10 [...]

From honorary mention of Kavinsky's Nightcall remix competition , to winners of Dim Maks & Heineken remix competition and the release of an EP in a MONTH! The Chaotic Good name seems alarmingly close to the definition of what he does, producing GOOD CHAOTIC music. Good intro, Good outtro, catchy lyrics, amazing build-ups and unbelievable drops are just the basic ingredients. Which then have to be mixed, chopped, grilled and cooked with the help of an arsenal of vintage synthesizers and funky midi controllers such as M-Audios Axiom 25 and ableton live. And [...]

...while we told you all about the new Eat Sugar EP, It's Not Our Responsibility , back in the spring, today marks the official release for the world... ...First, a little background refresher: After releasing a self-titled debut EP in 2006, Eat Sugar-Aidan Bogosian (vocals), Mike McBride (synths), Greg Poneris (drums) and Jim Reynolds (bass and synths)- traveled throughout the region, ultimately heading to Europe for a short tour in early 2008. Around this time, the band met up with Brainiac / Enon alumni, producer John Schmersal, who agreed to work with the [...]

The single, "Pop Singer," is a slow-burning cautionary tale about the perils of celebrity. The remainder of the EP is searing electro-pop, and it's Aidan Bogosian's vocals that stoke the coals, eschewing the fleeting fame of pop singers for a different form of temporality – the surrender to the dance floor. Reminds us of: Vhs or Beta | the Faint | sweaty arms and legs Eat Sugar: ( Official / MySpace ) eat sugar it's not our responsibility

Eat Sugar 's "Pop Singer" reminds me a bit of The Rapture, for some reason. I'm talking about Pieces Of The People We Love , not Echoes . And their video for the song hints of a more disturbing version of Thunderheist's " Jerk It ". At least initially. It may begin with a dancer clad in a tight and bright outfit who is then joined by a bear wearing the same. Then video has a twist that takes it straight to the realm of the demented. "Pop [...]

With their latest appearance, the guys come armed with a batch of new tunes. Most of them are from the brand new John Schmersal-produced EP It's Not Our Responsibility!, but they also debut an unreleased cut called "Run The Company" here as well. Right [...]

...after the guys from Cincinnati's Eat Sugar sent out a teaser track and video clip a few months back, we've been eagerly awaiting the newest release, the It's Not Our Responsibility EP. Done with Enon's John Schmersal, the seven tracks turn a murkier corner on the band's electronic tendencies. While the urgency of the band's debut remain, their ability to draw out the tension takes the whole trip to a much more rewarding level. Check it out now before the disc drops later this month...
