London's Alexander Shields, better known as the mind behind A Grave With No Name, has a history of dropping some heartbreaking, meaningful music that's criminally underrated (for those unfamiliar with his project, the beautiful "Streams" and "By the Water's Edge" are excellent starting ... Echo Lake Echo Lake's Thom chatters with The G-Man about Bob Trimble, shitty 70/80/90's music and his general love for music stores... Linda Jarvis and Thom Hill , collectively known as Echo Lake gracefully announced themselves to the world with last year's dazzling dreampop début Wild Peace (appearing at #9 on the The G-Man's Top 50 albums end of year list). viinyl.com And there it is, the first new Suede song in a decade - since "Attitude", from their 2003 Singles compilation - and being a bit nervous about hitting "play" is reasonable. Accepting that it won't be on par with anything from Suede or Dog Man Star - Bernard Butler isn't back in the fold, and even when he and Brett Anderson do get back together , they can't recreate that same magic - there's still the [...]

Like the rest of us, Friday Films is off to a hesitant, stumbly start in 2013. There's just one new video to gush about this week... Echo Lake - Even The Blind (in session) And that single offering is appropriately ephemeral and bleary: both in terms of sound and sight. In a slightly-bleached black-and-white setting, Echo Lake perform a song from debut Wild Peace (out now via No Pain in Pop ) in session for Bowlegs . The shoegazey song peaks and pales like a turbulent, ill-fated empire seen through [...]
This bleary-lensed Bowlegs session of Echo Lake is perfect for anyone waking up with sleep still in their eyes. Watch the London band perform 'Even The Blind' above. Their debut, Wild Peace , is out now via No Pain in Pop and Slumberland.

December has cometh and thus, so does the annual round up. We're beginning with albums, and opting for a top fifteen only. Whittling down this list has been tough, but we're finally happy with our choices, so, let us commence. 15. Solange - True Solange ’s ‘True’ is latecomer to the album of the year stakes, having only been released a couple of weeks back, and in actuality, is an EP rather than a full album. However, it’s very much worthy of a nod owing to its [...]

Echo Lake 's Thom Hill has spoken out in support of a Birmingham venue under threat of being closed down. The venue in question, The Hare and Hounds, could be shut after planning permission was applied for to build apartments on the site. Hill wrote on Facebook: "The Hare and Hounds, the leading venue for showcasing independent music in my hometown of Birmingham is under threat. We were lucky enough to finally headline this venue on our recent UK tour and it's such a great place. [...]

In 2011 I had a fantastic year with a number of my "tips" producing albums which ended up amongst my favourites of the year (as well as a couple that split up and a few that were "tipped" too soon and albums that didn't materialise). I think it was safe to say I was going to struggle to match those results this time around, so now twelve months on from my picks for 2012, I'll revisit the year of my picks and find out if my Mystic Meg career has come to an end before it's even started... Below is [...]

Echo Lake released their debut album Wild Peace end of June this year and also taken from this record is the song " Another Day ". Ben Perry and Duncan Christie remind us with their video in a very beautiful and enjoyable way that not every day is just like another day. Play off!

Frank Yang It's really a travesty that Neil Halstead's isn't venerated as a musical trailblazer. This is, after all, a man whose work in Slowdive was groundbreaking for both the shoegazing and ambient electronic genres and who created some of the finest alt.country moments from the UK via Mojave 3 , the say nothing of the increasingly deep catalog of works under his own name, most recently with Palindrome Hunches . And yet for the recognition that he should but mostly does not get, he seemed perfectly content [...]
