Here is the music video for Ecid's self-produced "Back From Japan," off his upcoming Werewolf Hologram LP , due on February 28. Ecid follows his pattern of utilizing obscure samples and blending them with more traditional hip-hop elements. On this track, he sampled a Japanese psych-rock band and layered it over a more straightforward drum pattern, eliciting a gloomy feel. Ironically, Ecid created the beat the day before the tsunami natural disaster in Japan, which influenced the lyrical content of the song. Watch the video above, and pre-order Werewolf Hologram here . Ecid , a Minneapolis MC, has taken his production hand into crossing alt-rockers Kings Of Leon with gangsta rap legends N.W.A. Most of the material is post-N.W.A. but you get the point. Considering the country twang of KOL's tracks, I just don't see how this could ever work, but I'll let you judge for yourself. Here goes nothing... [...]
