You know, we have got to thank Portland, Oregon sometime. Not only has it bestowed some great bands/artists on us like The Wipers, Gossip, M. Ward, Dandy Warhols and Courtney Love. But, Pierced Arrows were on the scene, long before we even had these artists on our radar. And you know what, they are pretty freaking great. With a balls-out sound between garage rock and punk, Toody and Fred Cole along with drummer Kelly Halliburton play rock they way it's suppose to be done. So with the upcoming North American tour, what's it like for Toody Cole getting [...]
Hey there! I'm feeling much perkier this morning after my first full night of sleep in several days. I hope you all have recovered from your "Lost hangovers" as well.

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive It's true that punk-rock's elderly homecoming couple, Fred and Toody Cole, are soldiering on with a new project called Pierced Arrows in the wake of Dead Moon's demise. As with everything they touch going back to Fred's garage-rock classic, 'You Must Be a Witch,' Pierced Arrows rock out with all the guttural oomph of 16-year-olds in their parents' basement, despite the fact that the Coles are retirement age. Longtime fan and supporter Eddie Vedder recently composed [...]
Eddie Vedder has remained outspoken about social issues throughout Pearl Jam's existence, even at times when it wasn't as fashionable as it is today. So, there is nothing surprising about the fact that he will make his cover of Bruce Springsteen's "My City of Ruins" available for download with the proceeds going towards Haiti and the relief effort. The surprising thing is that it took a couple of weeks for this to happen. According to Spinner , the song, taken from last month's Kennedy Center Honors, will be available for download from iTunes and [...]

But while taking home a Grammy Award is for many artists the climax of their careers, for others those golden statues have seriously lost their luster. Face it, Grammy: These 10 artists are just not that into you. "We just came to relax. We just wanted to watch the show. I don't know what this [award] is. I don't think this means anything." -- [...]

Eddie Vedder's beautiful rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "My City Of Ruins" from his recent performance at Kennedy Center Honors is now available through Ten Club and iTunes for only $.99. Proceeds from the sale of this single benefit Artists for Peace and Justice Haiti Relief. Usually things are not this cheap anymore, except maybe for a song on iTunes, so you should probably consider your extended family for this. All signs point to yes.
We really live in a day and age when the idea of being a rock star is just about gone. Gone are the days of the lead singer who gets mobbed by fans everywhere they go or sleeps in hotel rooms full of strange women. We don't even get a lot of musicians with drug and alcohol problems anymore or who quite obviously don't give a shit what anyone thinks. You know, those people who were just way cooler than you ever hoped to be? Dylan, Jagger, Plant, etc. We all know the names. That's what makes them rock stars. [...]

By: David Schultz Unless you were from Toronto, Ontario, a true music geek in the Eighties or a member of Gordon Peterson's family, it's unlikely you had ever heard of Indio. Even after the success of Eddie Vedder's soundtrack for Into The Wild, which featured the memorable "Hard Sun," you probably still hadn't heard of Indio. If, like me, you wondered how the Oscars could fail to nominate "Hard
Two years after he dazzled us with his solo work for Sean Penn's 2007 film, Into the Wild , Eddie Vedder faces a legal squabble because of it. The song in question? His take on Indio's "Big Hard Sun", which Vedder shortened to "Hard Sun" for the soundtrack. According to Spinner , Gordon Peterson, the Canadian-born singer who wrote and released the song under Indio, claims that, "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of 'Hard Sun' ... eroding the integrity of the composition" and that Universal never asked for his permission. He doesn't complain, however, [...]
A rare type of copyright infringement case is brewing in the US: Eddie Vedder and Universal are being sued by Gordon Peterson after Vedder recorded a version of Peterson's Hard Sun. Peterson is unhappy that Vedder changed the words without permission, and wants all the profits from the track, which appeared in Sean Penn's Into The Wild.

Filed under: News Pearl Jam 's Eddie Vedder is being sued in Manhattan by Canadian musician Gordon Peterson, two years after covering the track 'Big Hard Sun' for the Sean Penn-directed movie 'Into the Wild.' Peterson alleges the 20-year old track, licensed by Universal Records, was changed to its detriment, claiming in the law suit that "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of 'Hard Sun' ... eroding the integrity of the composition." The Canadian singer, who only originally recorded one album called 'Big Harvest' in 1989 [...]
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen have become very good friends over the years. The mutual admiration they have for each other definitely showed when Eddie paid tribute to Bruce by covering Springsteen's "My City of Ruins" at the Kennedy Center Honors on December 6, 2009. Here's a video and an mp3 of this beautiful performance. Eddie Vedder - My City of Ruins (Bruce Springsteen cover) Thanks for checking this out.

Eddie Vedder is finally engaged to his longtime girlfriend. The Pearl Jam singer-songwriter popped the question Friday night in Washington D.C. The couple were in D.C. to attend the Kennedy Center Honors Gala where Vedder performed paying tribute to honoree Bruce Springsteen. The two already have two children together (Vedder and his fiancee, not Springsteen). First of all, it's awesome Vedder is engaged. Congrats. However I'm a little surprised. I never saw him as the marrying kind. He's already been married and divorced once, but that isn't [...]
