Again, apologies for the late post. The ship will be righted once more after this weekend. Artist: Eddie Vedder Album: Into The Wild: Music For The Motion Picture Release Date: September 18, 2007 Honestly, I'm probably the wrong person to talk about this album, since I never saw the movie, and thus I have little or no context for how the music fits into the movie. But let's be real here. It's solo Eddie Vedder, and does anyone ever need a [...]

His is the son of Neil Finn, who is famous in his own right, but more so for bands Crowded House and Split Enz. Feeling fairly tired to be true so it'll be short and sour. I seem to be finally getting back into a writing flow of some sort so need to keep the daily blogaruu going. It is amazing what a desk can do for you. The reason behind the tiredness is... oddly enough... bingo! Or more [...]

For this bootleg Thursday I bring you "The Birdman Sessions". In the spring of 2000 while in Miami at the studio of Sean "Birdman" Gould. As the story goes, Gould bumped into Eddie at a bar on South Beach and offered an open invitation to record. Eddie Vedder spent a drunken night in the studio with a few random musicians recording off-the-wall covers. The session was dubbed "The Birdman Sessions", and copies of the recordings were made for all of the participants. Copies of these tapes eventually leaked out amongst the Pearl Jam trading elite, and it stayed [...]
Filed under: The Hit List Covering a Beatles song is like taking up residence in the Great Pyramid: The foundation is unshakable, but anything you bring along for decoration is bound to lower the property value. Of the thousands of artists who have tried, only a few have made themselves at home in the band's music. The Jam, ' And Your Bird Can Sing ' The Clash may have [...]
On October 16, 1992 at Madison Square Garden, Sony Music put on a pay per view all star concert to celebrate Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary on Columbia Records. Dubbed "Bobfest" by Neil Young from the stage, the four hour show featured a wide variety of artists performing Dylan songs. It was too bloated, but there were many highlights. Here are some videos (with some mp3s) of the best performances. Eddie Vedder was joined by Pearl Jam bandmate Mike McCready and Saturday Night Live bandleader G.E. Smith for this seering version of "Masters of War." [...]

Filed under: News , Holy Hell R.E.M. and Pearl Jam are among a coalition of rockers who want to know if their songs were used by the military as part of controversial interrogation methods at the detention center at Guantanamo Bay. Through a series of Freedom of Information Act requests filed on behalf of the Close Gitmo Now campaign, it appears Stipe and Vedder's songs didn't make the list, but AC/DC , Aerosmith , Bruce Springsteen , Metallica and [...]

Kings of Leon , currently on a run of headlining the biggest festivals throughout the states, announced a headlining tour to carry throughout the end of October which featured an excellent headlining performance on day 1 of Austin City Limits when they were joined by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam , but PopWreckoning was lucky enough to catch up with them before ACL. In regards to their St. Louis show, their show presence and abilities continue to grow as they become one of the bigger names in rock today. They showcased [...]
Vedder put it best when he said "There are laws in this state against things like gay marriage, but there isn't a law in California that says you can't lose your shit at a rock 'n' roll concert." On this night, he was correct.

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Television Pearl Jam warmed up for their Sunday night headlining Austin City Limits set with their third appearance on the long-running television show of the same name. Some 400 fans were treated to an intimate two-hour set, a considerably smaller crowd than the 65,000 expected to show at the band's closing set at the fest. The episode1, which will air Nov. 21, included a guest spot from Ben Harper , frontman Eddie Vedder suggesting a [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Kings of Leon 's Friday night closing set at Austin City Limits read like a best-of collection from their decade-long repertoire. But, for all of the great tunes, it was Pearl Jam 's Eddie Vedder that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Vedder, who will close out the fest Sunday with his band, came out for the closer 'Slow Nights, So Long' shaking a tambourine in each hand, and adding some vocals. Vedder hurled the tambourines into the [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Los Angeles' Gibson Amphitheater may be a good 15 miles from the Pacific, but don't tell that to Pearl Jam 's Eddie Vedder . At the first of four shows at the 6,000-seat venue, the Seattle band's lead singer declared that he was taking the enthusiastic audience on a little surfing safari. "We're playing almost all of the ocean songs," he said, "because we're so close to the shore." Vedder, an avid surfer, stayed true to his promise, performing such tunes [...]
Eddie Vedder has revealed - to not very much surprise - that he never spends longer than 30 minutes writing a song . From this, we can surmise that it must take Vedder about 23 minutes or so to find a pen and paper when he has an idea for a song.

I love Fresca. It's delicious. I love Pearl Jam even more. Their new album Backspacer comes out Sept. 20 but you can ge an advance listen here at www.myspace.com/tenclub. I love this album. I want to buy it a ring and have children with it...they'd start off as little 45s and before you know it they'd grow into cassette tapes. Pretty soon they'd be CD's joining the workforce and getting a

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars When Mason Jennings first released In the Fever , I couldn't have been more disappointed. The album seemed forced and overproduced-it lacked all the personality that I felt made Mason Jennings so special. I even vowed never to give him my money again, unless I previewed his work prior to purchase. Well, I gave in to my longing for Mason and got my hands on Blood of Man . Upon the first [...]

Filed under: Around the World Okay. So with Ellen DeGeneres having taken over for Paula Abdul at the judges' table of ' American Idol ' -- stay with us here, there's a point to this -- let's engage in a little outright fantasy about the kind of replacement we would liked to have seen. How about someone not only well versed in American music, traditions of both folk and popular style, someone who has studied roots from around the nation, but has also taken them to the top of the charts and even [...]

On their 9th studio album, Pearl Jam complete the arc their career shifted toward back on 2000's Binaural . If that album was the dusk to their youth, then Backspacer is the new sun most bands never see. Backspacer kicks off with the raucus "Gonna See My Friend", a song pitting Pearl Jam's strongest talents against one another to great result. Eddie Vedder barks and howls his way through Stone Gossard and Mike McCready's guitars as drummer Matt Cameron and bassist [...]
