This past weekend, Pearl Jam celebrated their 20th year together as a band by headlining their own Pearl Jam Twenty festival at the Wisconsin ski resort town of East Troy. Festival attendees had to endure a whole ton of rain, but they also got some big one-night-only collaborations. The biggest of those was almost certainly a reunion of Temple Of The Dog, the collaborative PJ/Soundgarden project responsible for the classic yell-along "Hunger Strike." Pearl Jam played a show over the weekend to celebrate their staying together for 20 years. Not only were the big PJ headlining but the likes of Queens of the Stoneage , The Strokes , Mudhoney and Temple of the Dog made appearances (reformed). Among the bands who took part in the 2-day festival, which ran from September 3-4 at Alpine Valley Music Theater , was The Strokes . During The Strokes set the band were joined by Pearl Jam 's Eddie Vedder for track " Juicebox ". There's not much else to say other than Eddie Vedder is probably the coolest human being alive. He already pulled a pretty neat trick this year by forcing the music world to take his ukelele album seriously, and now he offers a eulogy for E-Street saxophone player Clarence Clemons that sounds amazingly uncalculated and genuine. Eddie Vedder dropped by the Terrace Theater in support of his solo album Ukulele Songs . Vedder had a few surprises for the crowd as he covered some of his favorite bands like X, Tom Waits, and the Who. The biggest surprise of the evening was when Vedder was joined by fellow Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready for "Yellow Ledbetter." Glen Hansard of Swell Season served as the opening act.
