Boomgates Double Natural Bedroom Suck Records Supergroup may not seem like the best way to describe the Melbourne musicians who gathered to record under the name Boomgates. Brendan Huntley (Brenadan Suppression of Eddy Current Suppression Ring) and Steph Hughes (Dick Diver), two of the band's better known personalities from the Melbourne garage-rock scene, hardly register here in America. What's happening right now in Australia is so exciting. There is so much great music coming out of there at the moment that it's a task keeping up with it all. All the collaborations between bands and their members further muddy the waters. Case in point, Dick Diver , a band that I was fortunate to come across while first hearing of Boomgates and their absolutely fantastic record, Double Natural . They're a talent stacked outfit based in Melbourne, creating catchy as all hell scrappy pop. And the best part - they are comprised of members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring , The Twerps , Trial Kennedy , Dick Diver and Teen Archer . That's a pretty big deal guys. [...]
With members haling from bands such as Dick Diver, Twerps and Eddy Current Suppression Ring , anything Melbourne's super group Boomgates release is bound to embody Australian music at it's best. 'Whispering And Singing' is the first taste from the groups debut Double Natural which will be out August 24th through Bedroom Suck Records/Fuse Music. The track features some brilliant vocals from ECSR's Brendan Huntley and Dick Diver's Steph Hughes. Keep your eyes peeled for this release.
