Who: Eddy Current Suppression Ring What do they sound like: An Iggy Pop-fronted Radio Birdman with some Velvet Underground leanings. Why YOU Should Listen: The Aussie-based rockers just released their second full-length Primary Colours via Goner Records . Yes, the Stooges and Radio Birdman worship is apparent. But I'm also hearing some Pagans, New Bomb Turks, and X in the mix too. Primary Colours is definitely one of the better albums I've heard lately. The boys are [...]
Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Colour Television This is a groove that burrowed its way into my head earlier on...and hasn't quite left yet. Eddy Current Cuppression Ring are a heavy rock outfit from Melbourne who formed while working together in a vinyl pressing plant - apparently their first jam was the Christmas party and they're even named after a nickname for a piece of the factory's equipment. Their 10-track album Primary Colours was released in May on Aarght records. MySpace Photo [...]
Wings - "Tomorrow" I don't always want to write. Neither do you, I'm sure. Sometimes you'd just rather not do some of the things you like to do, I know that. I'm sure McCartney doesn't always want to be fucking catchy as hell. But this song makes me want to write. It makes me want to write about giving all my stuff away, and about a thousand different people and things. A fire chief eating a breakfast of only toast and butter to watch his weight. An [...]

Dinosaur Jr ( space ) + Eddy Current Suppression Ring ( space ) The Forum, Thursday 12 July 2007 Did I just pay $4.50 for a coke, fuck that shit. Whats with drinks these day. I always complain about the price. But for fuck sake a non-alcoholic drink... but on with the gig (also plenty of bogans there too). Don't know who else Played. Last time I saw Eddy Current Suppression Ring ( read here ) they had this great intensity, but this time they lacked it. [...]
Eddy Current Suppression Ring ( space ), The Sailors ( space ), The Onyas & The Breadmakers . Saturday February 10 @ The Tote The Breadmakers started off with 60's garage rock sound. But the whole night was a very rock n punk event. The best part about this event was that all bands were playing in the pit, so it gave that intimate feeling, and yes people were on the stage. After going outside and having a drink with a friend to find out he [...]

Today was a bit of an anxious day for me. It was the day that the Big Day Out 07 third line-up was to be announced. I knew straight up that this line-up was going to be all Australia acts, but I didn't expect it to be so damn good! added to the bill next year will be The Vines, Snowman, Sick Puppies, Macromantics (cant wait to see her!), Dan Kelly And The Alpha Males, Gersey, and Ground Components. But none of the announcements excited me as much as the announcement of Eddy Current Suppression Ring. My Dad (yes that [...]
Now that the Top 25 has been kicking around for a few days now I figured I'd post some thoughts as well as the bands that just missed the cut. Perhaps it was to be expected, but hip-hop was pretty absent from the list. The Herd did pretty well (51) but other than that hip-hop didn't really make much of an impact on the list. I'm not sure if this reflects the state of Australian hip-hop, or bloggers' taste. I have my suspicions. One of the great things about doing this list was [...]
